I have a slight gag reflex when i service my Dom (giving head)... It stems from a bad experience a while back, but He is helping me work through it. my question is this: i had heard that you can use either a mentholated cough drop, or something similar, i think if i remmeber correctly, to numb the back of your throat so it makes it easier to get past the gag reflex. Is this dangerous if you wait for the numbing sensation to go away before eating/drinking? And also, what can you suggest to use for this?

Reposted: Frankly, due to jaw problems and small mouth, I use my mouth only 30% of the time doing oral sex. My generic method is to start with my hands- massage the cock, scratch the balls a bit, get the blood flowing so you can start to sense when it's getting hard. Um, no - assuming the coughdrop is not still in your throat where it might get lodged. The active ingredient in coughdrops is typically Menthol, and it doesn't result in a powerful enough numbing effect to constitute any danger.

Well, not having a gag-reflex, it's never been an issue for me; but the men I've known don't really seem to mind one over the other, really. <shrugs> Seems to me the attention is all good...

Thank you, everyone, so much!!! i have actually worked past both the physical and mental barrier that prevented me from doing this, and i appreciate everyone's comments!! they really helped, but i do have to admit that it was a lot of patience and love on my Dom's part that helped me through this, as it was emotional as well. I rarely get a gag reflex, but what i try to do before hand, its to relax my throat, mind you that it doesnt always work, but Master likes to see me gag [:)] Thank You Sir Iskander, the site is very informative.

After a root canal on a rear molar my dentist told me that the best way to prevent a gag reflex from the surgery after the novocaine wore off, was to suck on peppermint candy or breath mints. i have used mint as home remedy for nausea too. It works! Also, to breathe OUT as penis goes IN works wonders.

Personally, I dislike the use of hands. It's like a food at Denny's: I can do that myself. One long-term girlfriend had a small mouth and I didn't force her.
