Hell, I have no words...horrible, maybe. I would not go if you are easily squicked...

ETA: Yes, if you look at is as satire it is amusing.....it still squicks me out....

...not sure if hilarious is the right word..........but there is a sort of grim symmetry in the idea.

Stop My Abortion!
--------------------
I will abort my fetus on October 19th, 2006 unless I get forty thousand dollars in donations. Let's see if pro-lifers will put their money where their big, fat mouths are--up my vagina! Otherwise, on October 20th, I will post pictures of my aborted fetus on this blog.

-----

C'mon, it's really dark but extremely funny. I mean, this pregnant woman - presuming it's a woman and that she's actually pregnant - is making political hoopla about her potential child. If she's really pregnant she obviously already intends to have an abortion. At the same time she is taunting pro-life types to pay her to do differently.

As a matter of curiosity - did any of you vote on her site to abort/not abort the fetus? Did any of you voting not to abort contribute to her needed $40K? Why or why not? Only 8000 people would have to risk as little as $5 to save the life of that child.

My attitude is that if you think the site is scandalous, and voted for her not to abort, but then didn't also contribute to her $40K fund - well, then something is amiss. You either don't have the money, don't believe in her sincerity, or ultimately don't care. Something has made you turn away. I think that something is her combative stance and the dark humor at work on the site.

Personally, I voted for her to abort the child. My reasons are as follows:
1. I doubt the site is for real - it's meant to be confrontational, sick and funny
2. If it's real then she doesn't seem very well suited to being a mother, her attitude kinda sucks
3. We need far fewer, not more, hungry mouths on spaceship earth
4. People should dispose of unwanted pregnancies not through adoptions but through abortions

I know, it's ghastly the things I support. But my attitude is to champion the rights and needs of the people that are already here. We are quickly approaching a world population level that is absolutely unsustainable and I can't for the life of me figure out who could possibly need for that unwanted child to live. More people should be opting for more careful use of birth control technologies and reduce the need for abortion (die, sperm, die!); but if a pregnancy results anyway many more should also be opting for a Plan B abortion (by which I mean that they should stick to their plan and not reproduce, I don't care what method they choose). Adoption options still increase world population at an alarming rate and I happen to support Zero Population Growth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_population_growth

There's way too many idiots running around, truly. And yes, I mean you and not me!

Ever see those TV shows with abandoned children starving to death all over the world? They walk about on stick like legs, distended bellies bulging, flies swarming over their features. Well, those are unwanted children - god's own little miracles of human horror. Nothing is ever going to be done about it just as nothing is ever going to be done about the ghastly overpopulation of stray domestic animals one sees either. People in poverty stricken countries are just like strays - they live sad, desperate lives just long enough to multiply their numbers. Yes, it's heartbreaking - as heartbreaking as an ethical system that declares that people should multiply and live in horror rather than to assert that perhaps some people should never have lived at all - not in those conditions anyway! People foolishly act as if some grey-bearded daddy in the sky has "spirits" just waiting to come down here and occupy a body and that we humans need to somehow help things along. Of such delusions is horror made.

Earth has become a fucking fly bottle and we desperately need a way out of the fly bottle.

*quick reply*
It's only a little amusing to me if I look at it as a fake/dark humor/satire. If it's not then it is horrible and squicky.

I really, really hope it's fake.

What a concept:  preventing a pregnancy in the first place.  If you choose not to use birth control and do not want or cannot support a child, stop f*cking.

I didn't read that far into her blog - where does she say she didn't use birth control? Pregnancies happen, even when people are doing what they can to prevent them.

Everyone has the right to fuck - just as they have the right to eat, drink, breath, take a piss, and take a shit. The funny thing about those primates called humans is that they love to have sex. Lot's of diseases float around on the back of that impulse.

Stop me when I get to the part that bothers you and then tell me why:
1. Killing sperm
2. Killing eggs
3. Killing a zygote
4. Killing a fetus

Then tell me why it isn't just you imposing your moral standards onto others.

My comments were not based on her blog but were based on the bolded statement from your posting.  I agreed with you that steps need to be taken to prevent pregnancy.  I happen to think that controlling your need to fuck is one of them, if you don't use birth control.  It's not a moral issue to me, it's an issue of personal responsibility.

Be well,
Julie

Your list is a bit short

1. Killing sperm
2. Killing eggs
3. Killing a zygote
4. Killing a fetus
5. Killing a infant
6  Killing a toddler
7  Killing a child
8  Killing a adolescent
9  Killing an adult
10 Killing the elderly.

Please do clarify where it is wrong and explain.

Then just as you as you stated "Then tell me why it isn't just you imposing your moral standards onto others."

Unless you agree killing anyone, anytime we feel like it is a appropriate action, then it reasons to say we are all imposing our moral standards onto others. Some would feel it's okay to kill a child. Some do it, anyway, regardless of the law. The majority is just more clearly defined the further back in the life cycle one selects to begin to focus on.

Unless you have no moral code you are know different, and impose your own beliefs on others as well.
