A recent conversation brought this to mind. For those who enjoy or participate in s/m play, does having PMS, or being on your period affect the way you process pain? Does it make you more sensitive to pain? Do you react differently at those times to the same thing done when it's not those times in the month for you? Is sub drop worse at those times?

For me, I've come to realize that it does affect how I perceive/experience the pain. I am more sensitive to pain to a degree at those times. I've found that during menstruation I need a slower, longer warm up than I usually do and that a good, long s/m session actually helps me feel better and changes or eases the cramping and pain. It helps also my mindset. My moods are much better and more upbeat for a while after a good session. As to sub drop at those times, as long as I eat sweets shortly after and drink plenty of fluids and can relax and think on the session, it stays minimal as it does when I do these things any other time in the month.

During PMS I am more sensative to any touch and my breasts are tender sore.

I also have to make sure I let Master know when I am ovulating...damned ovaries are super tender.

Personally I don't play during these times. For two reasons..one. I don't feel like it. and two, my sensory absolutely changes where play is involved. I find my pain threshold is lower, I bruise more easily, I'm less likely to want to stay in one position (it's too uncomfortable on my joints with water retention) and I just don't seem to 'get into it'.

I find if I DO have to play, that the deeper impact is about the only way to go. Abrasion play or light play against this skin is much like nails down a chaulk board is to many people. I especially avoid the nipples during this time.

Bare in mind tho please. I have sensory integration disorder, so this man not be a common occurance.

Sincerely
Silver

My pain tolerances can vary highly depending on where I am in my cycle.

Dear SweetSarijane, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Unfortunately, women are chemically controled by their bodies.  Moods, sensitivity to sound, light, taste, touch and other senses, such as smell, sense of self and awareness included.  Pheromones, Hormones and the Olfaction Glands all go in cycles.  Having that going in a cycle, then add endorphins to the mix--well, it is something that women have dealt with since Eve's Garden days with Adam.  Adreniline also adds to the chemicial recipe women have to contend with.

Stress, medicines, pain and other external additions to the chemical mix, just causes the body to fight harder to bet back into a chemical balance again.

Respectfully submitted for consideration,
Lady Hugs
