Pimpernell -> RE: Would you be upset if your child saw a nude sculpture at a museum of art while on a field trip? (9/29/2006 7:34:02 AM)

Well I voted no. But to clarify... An old nude sculpture, say Michaelangelo's David, no problem. Nothing wrong with nudity. Modern art however is very different. I'd be more concerned about my future children being exposed to some of it. I've been to modern art galleries, and accidently walked on some modern art - broken glass on carpet, which was not roped off - and seen photos of human extrement as well as paintings made with elephant dung hung up as art. Some of you may not be aware of movements like "Danger Music" a few decades ago, which tried to bring danger into music. Some practictioners attempted to give people permanent hearing loss in the name of art. So, non modern art, no probs. Modern art, may be a concern.
