Left over?

Usually in my house it all gets eaten BEFORE Halloween and we have to go out and buy more for the kids at the last minute!

I have tried this in years past, and this is why I only buy the candy either the night before or the day of Halloween

Favorite halloween candy is Indian Harvest candycorn...MMMMMM

On edit: I came for the Halloween role play but I stayed for the candy corn...lol

This should be on a t-shirt.

I looooove candy corn. It is one of the things I will eat until I am physically ill. Which is why it is now verboten in my house. (The other thing I will eat until I am ill is those malted milk eggs you can buy at Easter time.)

This year I will not buy any Halloween candy until the day before Halloween.

Is that the candy corn with the pumpkins and stuff?  Because I like that sugar, omg.  Sometimes I have to move beyond chocolate.

If you eat too many pumpkins it makes you sick, candy corn is not as rich...lol

CuriouslyKat -> RE: whats the big deal? (9/29/2006 7:40:29 PM)

I would like to see the scientific data to support your claim.
Also, I would like to point out that the pumpkins are far more spiritual than the candy corn.

KatyLied -> RE: whats the big deal? (9/29/2006 7:40:50 PM)

It's all so sweet.  I'm going to buy some tomorrow.  I don't care if it makes me a bit sick.

If you really wanted full commitment from a halloween treat you wouldn't settle for just a pumpkin candy, you would only eat carmel apples... everyone knows carmel apples are just a deeper more complex treat

Oh my.  Be careful reading this post...we might dispell some myths and break some hearts.

quote:

missturbation:  After reading the thread in general about halloween i just have to ask what is the big deal about halloween? I live in the U.K and we just don't really make much of it - what is it that you Americans go so nuts about?

There are so many reasons, miss.  From a scholarly explanation of how the holiday allows geographically disconnected suburban Americans to "connect" by roaming in packs at night thru their neighborhoods to a Jungian desire to play with flame on the night that was Samhain and then All Hallow's Eve (and the Day of the Dead) to the fact that you get to dress up and act goofy...at any age.  In fact, Halloween has been marketed within an inch of its life, and is now the second major "adult holiday" after New Years Eve for adult parties and liquor consumption.  Fun as it is, all these posts are buying into a pretty crazy consumer frenzy.  (and this doesn't even take into account what happens if you have little ones.)

quote:

justheather:  Ok, I will explain to you the big deal, but you have to sit down first.
Are you sitting down?

Ok.

People give you chocolate.
For free.
And not just cheap crappy chocolate, either.
Ok, some give you cheap crappy chocolate.
But you also get real delicious good name-brand chocolate too.
All you can carry.
For free.

She's right.  and you don't even have to put out for it, unlike that OTHER chocolate based holiday!

You just want an excuse to say "Yes Master" in public over and over and over and over *GRIN*  And WE want pictures!!!!

NOW we get to the crux of this post.  Beware:

Uhmmm...ladies....Once upon a time yours truly owned an import company that among other things imported a small amount of foodstuffs, and also contracted to have food (mostly essential oils and candy) tested by American labs to allow its import under the FDA regulations.  And....in the course of this...I learned that except for food dyes used the pumpkins and the candy corn are made of identical...I repeat Identical ... ingredients.  They are both molded corn syrup products.  Any taste difference, spiritual level and other distinctions are the product of external forces.

I told you someone was gonna get hurt...*

And by the way, the introduction of Halloween Peeps is a SURE SIGN of the Apocalypse.  Peeps are for Easter, for God (or whomever's) sake!

* DO NOT READ FURTHER.  NO.  YOU.  DO NOT.  STOP.

Ahem...one of the things that you get from the food lab is the "allowable" parts per million of insect parts, dirt and fecal matter allowed in a shipment of...oh....say...candy corn.

I TOLD YOU TO STOP READING.  Might I suggest you try the Halloween apples?  Scoured first with Clorox, of course.   With bottled water?  VERY VERY clean.
E.
