It will differ in any relationship, would be my guess.
In this relationship, my Owner has always decided when it is 'play time'. For that reason, i've not once been the 'instigator'.

Again, i only know how things are done in the relationship i am in. In this relationship, my Owner determines how it goes depending on what He may prefer and expect. i wouldn't assume that the same is true for everyone else in their relationship.
i show that i am greatful for His attention through the degree of eagerness with which i serve His sexual desires, when i am called upon to do so.
There is no one size fits all set of rules.

"We" had discussed many different types of scenarios prior to a playtime weekend, so when the weekend together happened, we both took turns instigating playtime.

Afterwards we discussed how we each thought the weekend turned out, he mentioned that he thought I was "topping" at times but then he also stated that HE did tell me prior that he enjoyed/wanted to be seduced. He admitted that I was doing what he had told me he enjoyed so therefore it wasn't really topping.

Yes.. usually I walk around naked. If that doesn't work I may go over to him and hug him or do something that places my breasts or branded butt in prominence. I have standing permission to do things like that or get into what we call the lazy boy position (on my hands and knees with my arms flat on the ground with my butt in the air makes a much more comfortable footstool, which I learned from a Catherine Gross workshop). There are certain standing requests, positions I can get into that kinda indicate that I'm feeling frisky.

As the Jeff Foxworthy joke goes.. I know the combination to his safe.

For him its certainly acceptable, within particular parameters. The trick for us/him is the demonstration of need is fine, the assumption that I'm gonna get ___ isn't fine.
