"Kissinger, 79, returns from the political grave"

Please note the dates. The media (via Bob Woodward and his new book) is trying to present some of this stuff as new news when it is in all reality old news for news addicts like myself. Iraq has been a total fiasco since day one. And only a fool would not have recognized the slimy touch of Kissinger all over it, or are we supposed to believe that he was appointed to head that commission as a name pulled out of a hat? I'm not saying Woodward isn't filling in the empty spaces, but it's hardly revelatory news-work.

In part this is why I was stunned when the alleged criminal won his reelection bid, I would have thought people had had enough already of his bullshit. Of course, now the people that voted for him a *SECOND TIME* are all acting like they are so surprised by the corruption, etc. I'm sorry, but Bush Jr. has a long record of hiring Republican thugs and criminals - most of whom have actually been indicted, often convicted, and sometimes pardoned for their previous offenses. I mean, connect the dots...

I saw Bob Woodward interviewed about Kissinger on Larry King... kinda interesting when one thinks back on the trouble Kissinger has caused... like helping put Pinochet in power

I get tired of all the Bush bashing, like he invented all the bad things everyone is complaining about.  Bush is just the LATEST doof to do it and in 2 years, there will be a new doof doing the same thing.

President = Doof!
Political Leaders = Doofs!
Political Parties = Doofs!

Notice I didn't say Republican, Democrat, Libitarian, etc. etc.  It's not this one or that one, it is ALL of them.

If Kerry had been elected he'd be doing incredibly stupid things too, just different incredibly stupid things and possibly even MORE stupidly things than Bush has done. (you never know).

There's an old joke that sums this all up, "If Progress means to move forward, what does Congress mean?"  ;-)

So, only an idiot would vote for someone based on their Party affiliation - vote for the moron that you think will do the least damage for the next term.

Excuse me, but the only stupid things John Kerry would be doing is giving people  healthcare, securing the border and the ports and nuclear/electrical facilities and maybe windsurfing.  Oh yes, one more thing doing the hard work to develop a regional policy in the Middle East in order to bring the troops home from Iraq.

Yes, the conservatives bitch about the Hmong people that came over here from Laos, but part of the reason is because of secret deals Kissinger made with them according to reading I have done on the subject in looking at Hmong populations within the USA (personally I think they are charming people and I am glad they are here)

Do you have a personal thought of your own or do you enjoy reguritating other people's crap.  Kerry would be as self-centered as every other President we've had in the last 60 years at least.

Stop the political bullshit rhetoric - that's why this country is where it is right now.

Im so glad to meet someone that knows the probabilities of what happens in alternative universes... it makes reading this thread more exciting.. you nor I know what would be if Kerry was in the White House,.. but the only more stupid thing kerrry could do is nuke someone... lets pray that Bush doesn't nuke Iraq or Iran once he is a lame duck president

If this post was aimed at me, it was aimed the wrong direction since I do not vote for a party, although I have been known to vote against one.. meaning the Republican Party

Anyone who is still to flipping stupid to see the difference between the two parties I have to question their suitability to vote.  Imperfect yes, flawed yes, but distinctly different.

Dems want a healthy country to rob, Republicans want to rob a corpse.

I agree with that.

I'd also say that Bush represents an extreme opportunist the likes of which we really haven't seen - ever. I don't think the neocons are politics as usual. This is looting in overdrive. Trying to minimize Bush Jr's specific crimes is suspiciously pro-thug to my mind.

What's truly ironic about the players mentioned... is that during the Nixon and partially into the Ford administrations, it was Rumsfeld and Cheney who were in large part responsible for getting the cabinet to move away from Détente and towards Containment and Deterrence.

Cheney and Rumsfeld did not like Kissinger at all from everything I've read. And some analysts believe that had Kissinger maintained his hold as National security advisor.... the  ''Wall'' might not have ever come down.

Sounds just like people doing someone else's bidding. But since we know they don't do the bidding of the american taxpayers, then whom do they serve?

Hello A/all,

I dont generally agree with this.  Kerry would have had to fight tooth and nail against two Republican controlled houses of Congress to get anything done.  So instead of being able to do incredibly stupid things, his administration would be probably be remembered as one that did nothing at all.

Kerry probably would not have hired all of Monkeyboy's father's neo-cons to tell him what to do, so our military would not be overstretched and occupying a country that was invaded.

He would also probably be spending all his time fighting off continual attacks by the Right trying to kick him out of office, the way Clinton did.

The most amusing thing I find about the whole past 20 years is the Democrats have started using the Republican's tactics against them, which explains the difficulty the incumbent Republican's seem to be having keeping their jobs due to all the criminal charges and scandals.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Sinergy

Kissinger is an admitted globalist, many times over. People like him don't view the world through the lens of the sovereign nation-state ; they see it all as one.

So to answer your question....I don't think Kissinger works for any one group or person, but instead, he works for rallying cry of globalism.

But you already knew all that
