MistressWildfire -> Help? (10/3/2006 9:57:28 PM)

I am currently seeking to be mentored by other Dommes.  I dont have anyone like other family members I can learn things from or any friends that are into the BDSM lifestyle. I also do not have any clubs or munches I can attend here where I live. I am really interested in the lifestyle and ready to learn. I would like to speak with Dommes that have atleast 5 or more years of experience in the lifestyle. Thanks.

Hmmm ... your profile is confusing.  Are you perhaps ... trolling here on the boards?  If you are the subbie half of the couple you have listed on your profile, you need to clarify your posting here.  This is what your profile states ... yet your posting here is ... very different.  According to this profile ... you have a Dom/Domme already ... right?  Why tell us you have no one to learn from:

THIS IS A D/s COUPLE PROFILE

I am very new to the BDSM lifestyle, and My sub has 5 years experience as a sub. We are here looking for friends, and to gain experience. I do not need any other subs or slaves, so don't bother asking. If you are interested in a friendship and intellegent conversations feel free to get in touch with Me. I am a very OPEN person willing to explore everything new.
FRIENDS ONLY!

I didn't see any mixed messages... The profile states that one partner is new & the sub has 5 yrs experience. It appears thatthe one posting here is the younger less experienced woman of the couple.

I figured that the one posting here didn't know how to look up local events & such. The best I can tell based on a google map is that the town listed on the profile is about 40 miles or so from a major town with plenty of events, meetings, clubs & such.

While it is not as accessible as having a munch in the same city, Indianapolis has a BDSM scene. For learning technique, a person who is near you would be best. Local BDSM communities have people who are willing to teach others, as well as educational events and seminars.

Indianapolis also has a TNG chapter (persons 18-35) as well as a fetish night each Friday. A fetish night is entertainment but allows opportunity to meet others who enjoy BDSM.

For the mental aspects, I think establishing rapport with other posters here and participation in discussions will help. Also, I think the experience your sub has may help you understand D/s dynamics and the sub psyche. I have heard several dommes say they learned important things from subs, and certainly see the potential for your sub to help in this way.

Good luck.

You are in Indiana.

Join the Yahoogroup "IndianaBDSM" for regular announcements about munches, sloshes, workshops, parties, clubs, and special events. Just this morning I opened my email and found 6 announcements for events during October.

There are lots of valuable techniques you could likely learn from your sub.  Getting feedback and catering a bit at first to his fantasies might be a great start.  You will, in time, find your own footing and be able to run with it.  Having your sub help you through your learning process is also a great opportunity for the two of you to become closer.  Don't let him control the entire scene but take ideas and use them and make sure you give and get feedback regularly.

For various techniques, I suggest you read a lot and practice.  I can not stress to you enough how valuable learning from someone first hand is, though.  If there is a possibility of getting involved in local groups, attending demos and seminars, etc.  I highly recommend it.

Use common sense and know what you want out of your relationship.  Process a lot of information and take what works best for you.  Everyone does things at least slightly differently.  Do what works best for you.

Get involved on the boards here and other places.  Get some good books.  Browse through Internet sites.  There's a wealth of information out there.  If you have any specific questions feel free to share them...it will allow you to get opinions from several different people and will also possibly help others who may have the same question.

Good luck.

Thank-you all for the great feedback. I will be sure to check out that yahoo group, and do more research thru the net. I know there is a BDSM communty in Indianapolis, I am just trying to find something closer because I am not to ever drive a vehicle. As for my profile I thought I stated it pretty clear: I am the Dominant and my fiance is the submissive, he has 5 years experience as being a sub in past D/s relationships he was in. I am new to the lifestyle and just here to learn and gain new friends, and not wanting any new subs or slaves in my life. Anyways, you all that gave me some good input I really do appriecate it.
                                                         Good day
