I know that this should probably be posted in the off-topic section, but if I post it there, not as many will see the answer.

Ok, LA (AKA LuckyAlbatross), all of us that are regulars want to know how you get the nice lists of "see these threads". Do you have a file somewhere? Do you have secrets ways of searching the forums that are better than the average person? Super powers maybe??? 'Fess up!!!

The first time is the hard one. When someone posts a topic that's been done a few times before, I go to the search page and do a search for that topic. I weed through the threads, picking out the ones that seem really relevant and put them in a list to post.

NEXT time someone posts the same topic, I just do a search for the last time *I* posted on that topic, and can simply copy and paste the list I already made, adding on that last topic, and post again.

The search engine can be tricky, I have never figured out that whole "ratings" system and always search by date. I recommend making liberal use of the "search by topic/original post only" feature or simply doing a search for your own threads and topics if you know you're looking for something you did in the past.

It's nothing magical or a big deal, researching and listing things out is just something I enjoy and am good at.

P.S. And she can type faster than a motherfucker too, and that helps. I know 'cause me and about three other guys tried to outpost her one day and she emasculated us as easily as if she were slipping off her panties.

Thread cops? I see it as helpful as hell. Course, I enjoy research and any other helpful information on a topic I'm curious about...

I don't see her posting links as anything close to trying to fix or change or rule or correct or judge or catch or criminalize. I see them as just more information on the topic; and I appreciate that.

Yeah, some of them I am sure are, some of them are just a reminder to the OP that the thread has already been done...which is completely unnecessary. If people feel like it has been covered in satisfactory detail it will sink quite quickly.

Word (said the middle aged white guy). I've seen LuckyAlbatross type in person and am honestly amazed that she does not go through more keyboards. I thought that the red I see around her fingers was from heat but I can't feel it on the keyboard afterwards so I think it is some offshoot of Doppler shift.

No offense intended toward LA but it is amazing what you can do if you take a min or 2 to actually look up something yourself.

I used to do what LA does and i'm so glad she took it over, it's very time consuming, thank you LA!!

It would be helpful for her if everyone would put the topic of their thread in the subject line instead of things like "question" so that she can search by topic headings and not have to go through all the replies.

One can dream Proud...Subject lines like "Advice" or "confused" really aren't the best.
