Defning as a top OR a bottom would be the same as defining (on face value of being on one end or the other) as either a Dom or a sub. Ok, back to the original post. Like others have said. There's many reasons behind the way a switch will present themselves to another person. For me, yes, I will say straight off that I am a switch. Mainly because I have no interest in creating or looking to create relationships with others. Friendships, yes. To me, if I want friendships, not that my orientation has anything to do with it, sometimes it feels that when making friends here it helps me to stay on kind of a neutral ground, adding to the part where I'm not looking. That way a potential sub friend won't look at me as another Domme and a potential Dom/me friend won't look at me as just another sub. But there's another side to it. As people get to know me, certain personality types will see me as one or the other and some will see me as just what I am...a switch. This comes back to the point that someone else made earlier in this thread. Yes, he's a switch. And while I don't agree with the way he might have presented himself to you, considering your own personal situation,(that's a whole other thing right there) but around certain people he will identify more with one side of himself than the other. Some of my friends here see me as sub...but they know I am a switch. It's not them being disrespectful at all. It's just that part of my personality that they see and that their own personality brings out in me. The same goes for some of my sub friends. They see the more Dominant part of me, but that's just what their personality brings out in me. It's not being deceitful as some might think, it's just how things come out naturally. Us switches aren't both at all times. Sometimes we are One....sometimes we are the other...and most of the time, we're just human.
