In order to understand my answer, I think I have to explain what I see as submission. For me, it is simply about obedience or yeilding to the will and authority of another.
What inspires me to obey another? Certain demonstrated character strengths will earn my obedience. Some of the most important to me are integrity, honor, open-mindedness, critical thinking, courage and love. When someone actively demonstrates these traits, I will be inspired to obey them. These days there is only one person in my life who has earned my obedience. Now, whenever I am obedient to anyone it is because that is what he expects of me.
