The Amish do not use oil to transport themselves. They would never have tried to conquer oil-rich Iraq.

Do they use any oil at all?

We have Amish so that the ultra-conservatives have someplace to go when stem cell research becomes available again.

And.... We should not look at ppls different coltures as what are they good for me or for my country. as long as they are good for them selfs....thats good for me

Very Little I believe, I think they only use it for lighting & greasing their machinery...

There are Amish societies in Ohio, mid-state, who apparently benefit greatly from a steady stream of tourists who buy their products and just want to mingle with them. Yes, they are a bit unusual, and no, i would not want my unmentionable to live as an Amish woman. However as far as i know, they generally commit little crime, maintain their property in good order, etc. Seems to me this country has room for such "fringe" societies within it.
