I went by the bank today. While I was there I looked across the street. The bar where my wife and I met for the first time was closed down. I went across the street to take a look. It was very sad, like a piece of our history was gone. I remember the day very clearly. I held a chatroom/halloween party for all the members of my chatroom. My wife heard that I was going to be there and she had to come and meet me. I was standing out in the smoking area with my girlfriend at the time and she approached me in the cutest village wench costume I have ever seen. She looked absolutely adorable.

She let Me paw her a bit (a lot of women did that.  My girlfriend and I had a cool relationship.  She was bi, so she had to get in on the action too. lol)   She was divine. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I still do to this day every time I see her face.  I could never have imagined that we would be together today, but here we are.

Anyways, to the point. We walked back inside and sat down in the booth at the back. I tried to see it today but it was too dark inside. My girlfriend sat down under my left arm, my wife under my right. They snuggled in and I had my beer on the table. I swear, I was in heaven. They also had the dungeon open that night, so I sat in there for quite a while. My wife heard that I was in there, so she paid the extra $5.00 to get in to be with me.

A night I will never forget. That was the best night I ever had at a club, and now it's gone.

May my favorite Barrie club not be forgotten and come back soon.

http://www.clubcestlavie.com/ There is some photos and information about it there.

On another note, do you not hate it when anywhere you go someone knows you? It is almost disturbing. I went to the mall today and wandered into a store. "Hi Doc. Do you know who I am?" "Ummmm. Well. Uhhh. I know hundreds and hundreds of people. What is your name again...?"

I have a terrible memory. It is quite unsettling when someone puts you on the spot like that. It happens pretty much everywhere I go. I think I will start wearing a mask.

Kenin, why did it go out of business?
Maybe you should think about buying it at a good price!

Sorry about your bar Ken.   And I agree wiht Popeye, try and get it if you can.

As to going places where  you are known by just about everyone.   I have been there and done that.  It even happened to me in the Soviet Sector in Berlin when I was there.   And the only time I went to the soviet sector was on tour once (unfortunately the soviet PX was closed or I would ahve done some shopping just for fun).

Well, I think what happened is that the City decided to pull the plug on them and rebuild an old opera house that used to stand there. The place was completely demolished and writing was all over the walls, calling the Mayor a homophobe (it was a gay bar obviously), saying you can kill our bar, but you can not kill our spirits.  Stuff like that.  The deal is that the Mayor is also on the liquor board but he is also owner of two of the bars downtown right around the corner from this one.  You better have a pretty good reason why you want a liquor license, and if it competes with his clubs then you can forget about it.

Don't you just hate it when a place you haven't been to in years closes?

Well, if it was any other bar, I would not care.  That one was made special because we met there.  It was also great for the atmosphere, dungeon and listening to the karaoke, which was really good.  They sent one guy to the Canadian championships, he was really most impressive.

We knew it was closing.  It was just sad to finally see it happen.

I feel your pain Kenin. I went back to NY and found that most of the places I spent my time when I was younger have closed.  It was kinda depressing that the only way to relive that stuff is to hope I have pictures.
And near where I work, everyone knows me.  They dont know my name, but they seem to think I remember all of their pictures.  Luckiy i have a descent memory for names, so I can usualy reply with a "hey, Mr. soandso, yeah, how have you been"

The Resturant that I hung out at as a teenager, closed this past weekend.  It was the old fashioned kind where you pull up in stalls and order from your car.  I meet many of my dates there as a teenager, had loads of fun, and fond memories.  Now, its gone.  But, its fun to remember those days.
