It is a flavor of ice cream. An additive for baked goods. Even a name here on collarme.
It has many different definitions.
However, many within the lifestyle use it to refer to someone who is not in the lifestyle.
Not aware of kink. Or any D/s activities.

Welcome to the lifesytle, I hope you find what you're seeking here.

Vanilla is a perennial herbaceous climbing vine that can grow up to 25 meters (82 feet) high and it is a native to Central America and Mexico.

In cultivation the deep trumpet-shaped flowers of the Vanilla must be hand-pollinated; in Mexico the native humming bird does the work.

The green capsules or fruit are picked and 'cured' and the immature Vanilla pod or bean is fermented and dried to turn it into a fragrant brown vanilla bean.

Extraction

A resinoid is extracted from the 'cured' vanilla bean by solvent extraction.

Chemical composition

The main chemical components are: vanillin and numerous traces of other constituents such as eugenol, caproic acid etc.

Precautions

Vanilla oil is not normally used in aromatherapy, but it is non toxic.

Uses

Vanilla oil is used as a flavoring agent in pharmaceutical products, in food and in tobacco.

It is also an ingredient in Oriental type perfumes.

it is the most BLAND of relationship, and BDSM would be a lot stronger "SPICE" in a relationship recipee ;)

More often than not, it's a pejorative term used by some to describe people who are not actively involved in the BDSM subculture.

In case you're referring to use of the word underneath your username when you post to the fora, it's an indicator of the number of posts you've made. When you reach 25 posts, it'll change to something less "offensive."

hahaha boring...

well I still like a little nilla here and there.. but it's kinda like checkers... once you learn how to play chess and gain some confidence... checkers nmaturally loses it's thril and it's allure :) Sure you can still have fun... but you'd rather be playing chess since it's a far more mental pursuit.

best,
Joshua
PS who is shamelessly trying to lose his 'nilla status on CM <wink>

I happen to prefer vanilla ice cream to chocolate ice cream... Then again chocolate tends to make me sick. Perhaps that's why... Er... wait... What was the question again?

Just so that I live up to expectataions...

'vanilla' is just another label

...seriously tho... 'vanilla' is a term used to describe a non BDSM Lifestyle choice by people within the Lifestyle. It is a symbol in a sense... vanilla is is a flavour that tastes ok, isnt too spicy, isnt too sweet... has bits in it that make you think and which has no particular colour to describe.

Personally I like vanilla flavouring as a food... its pretty safe, nondescript and in the case of icecream - chills you to the bone... but I know that if I had too much, it would make me really sick.

I love vanilla ice cream as well. With some caramel sauce slathered over it.

Strawberry ice cream also is great though.

I never knew there were so many other vanilla-flavor lovers out there (like me).

Does anyone make vanilla-flavored, edible body paint? You always see the chocolate stuff, but if they would only make vanilla ...

I absolutely love the scent of vanilla. I can remember being a kid and uncapping the vanilla extract just to smell it .

Everything in my house is vanilla. Candles, bath soap, bubble bath, oils.. oh, bliss :)

Well, everything except my perfume.

They do make it. Plain, pure vanilla scent. Goes with the body, doesn't smell even remotely like vanilla.

Sadly I hve none at the present time. Can't even remember what brand it was. I've tried many different kinds. The best I found was in Ghiradelli square in San Fran. There is like a science store there. About 9 bucks a tin but to me well worth it.

Yep, I am a vanilla lover as well.

We refer to people outside of BDSM as "vanilla" because vanilla is just so ~bland~ we're more of a blend of many flavors, ranging from the discretely mild to the ragingly intense, once you try all those other flavors out there how can you possibly ever settle for plain old vanilla again!? lol maybe once in a while, but only so that you wont take the other flavors for granted!

Vanilla = Another way of saying that there is nothing added, a flavor that needs something else to be something else. {LOL}
