ORIGINAL: NorthernGent Apparently, cat owners tend to be people who can give love without receiving but dog owners can't. I guess it depends on the cat in question. My cats come when called generally and are very affectionate - perhaps overly so. I have one that effectively follows me around everywhere I go when I am home. Hell, they even like each other and regularly snuggle together. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/tbbt/mybitches00.jpg They look stressed, huh? When they snuggle, one will leave her inidividual donut and join the other cat in her's (e.g., one scenario only). There's not really room for two, but they don't seem to care. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/tbbt/evidence_ten.jpg So sorry, NG. I gots to call bullshit on you. The comment of mine that you have quoted is aimed at cat and dog owners rather than cats and dogs. The theory goes that dog owners are attracted to dogs because they are pack animals and are blatantly and consistently affectionate to the leader of the pack i.e. wagging of tail etc. Thus, it's a perceived easy source of affection for dog owners and, according to the theory, this is the attraction for the dog owner. Apparently, cat owners do not require this same open and tangible sense of affection and thus dogs don't hold the same attraction. The comment about coming home from work to a cat was tongue in cheek and not meant to be offensive to Aileen. It's fair to say I don't pretend to have the first clue about what is going on in the mind of a cat, how would I when I'm not a cat? As said previously, good luck with your cat, Aileen.
