having been a member now for a period I do question if people are real and really want the same things.

Yes, people are real on this site but I sure hope that they do not all want the same thing as me.  There just isn't enough of my Lord to go around... he would get really tired trying to satisfy everybody.

I sympathize with you on not wanting to waste time.  I haven't tried online dating, but I've had a lot of dates that I wish I hadn't wasted my time on.  Instead of offering a free meal, go 50/50 and maybe that will weed out some of the losers.  Good luck!!

I'm not real....I'm a figmant of your infatuation....

Seriously hell yeah there are players here, but then again there are players everywhere you go, the internet is rife with it but it's to be expected really, best thing I'd say is yes use the internet but don't totally rely on it, get yourself out there, munches etc - there's a whole world to be explored!

I know I'm real. There are even people on this site who can vouch for my realness. (Is realness a real word?)

I do know this, I wish you were in my area. I generally get asked out for coffee, which I don't drink, and end up buying my own iced tea. To have someone actually pay for my meal would be......amazing!!

I believe that most people here are real, as with most any thing in life the trick is finding someone with the same definition of what your looking for as you have..

I dont know how long youve been in the scene. But Ive been in it long enough to know that irregardless of what site your on or venue your at your always going to find a diverse crowd, including and unfortunately those less sincere or knowledgeable than you would like. Or, as Chief Dan George said in The Outlaw Josie Wales..  "Endeavor to perservere" .. And yes, Im real.. extremely.

How long do you think it's supposed to take? 4.5 months doesn't seem like a long time to find a person who truly matches you.

Master Fire

Being real:
Margery Williams, The Velveteen Rabbit

"...Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you..."

"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.

"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real, you don't mind being hurt...It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't often happen to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

Real.. what is real, are we all just part of someone else's dream? Will we disapear when that dreamer wakes?? Is there really tomorrow or are we reliving the same day over again and yet we do not know?

Oh wait this wasn't the answer... yes some are real, some are fake, some are real and you will percieve them as fake since they do not fit your qualifications to real, others will see you as fake when you do not meet their perceptions of reality.

Time... it takes time, and the ability to control the craving.

What I find most surreal, is the number of real, natural women - with the XX genes and all that, who look like me. I spot "me" on the television almost every day - somewhere in the background of a news report, an extra in some film and so on.

Given the number of doppelgangers I have, the question is, which one of us is real, and which are the copies? And from that, am I real?

But the main question is, does me having so many doppelgangers out there mean I must look OK, or are these real, natural women with the XX genes and all that, absolute mingers?

I do so love these philosophical threads.

I like to think of you that way, too.

Actually, to answer the OP: I am the only real person on this site. The rest of these clowns are just here to make me look good.

We are real, or at least, I am told im real. I have days I wonder about that, though.
Looking for someone local is ratehr restrictive, so in your area, you might have slim pickins.  I have met some wonderful people (all real as far as I could tell) from here. They arent all necessarily local.  Sometimes, your distance is what makes it hard to find.
If your having trouble, maybe you should try and initiate the contact instead of waiting to see who writes to you. Restricting your search and then looking through what you come up with might help.  If not, consider broadening your horizons.  I had to look all the way to TN to find my boy.
