i have been with a novice Dom for 8 months and i had the opportunity to help him discover the mechanics of the lifestyle, and even experienced new things myself.. :-) many limits pushed and over come. However he is now ready to experience more of the mental aspects of the lifestyle, and needs a mentor. How would one (a submissive) help him see that a mentor might be a good thing to help him continue to grow? We are both active in the local BDSM community so the opportunity is certainly there. thank You, pixie

The way this question is asked it makes it seem like you have unilaterally decided this is the next step he needs to take and want to convince him of this decision? If you're both active already, then he's already got all the resources he could have at his immediate disposal to ask questions, observe and learn. I don't see the need for more?

As you are active and local broach the subject - there will be those around who would be willing to help but if help is not asked for then, usually, it is not forthoming. Are there workshops in this community? If not seek one out - there are many ways you can gain a significant amount of help. Others here will also advise you - but beware of mass mails saying that they will 'help & mentor' not everyone is looking out for your or your Doms best interest.

He could take a few sessions and be a sub to widen his horrizons, or you could do research and find something you want to explore, then suggest it to him. Read a book on bdsm and tell him about it etc. I think you need to work out what is lacking for you in the relationship and then focus on that, rather then try to push him blindly.
