tonight on Spike's Scream Award, there was mention of a possible remake of the classic John Carpenter's Halloween.

i am curious as to what everyone's thoughts are on this issue.

**Edited to add** word has it that director Rob Zombie may be the one doing the remake.

i'm wondering, is Rob Zombie really the best choice as director to undertake such a task as even doing a remake or should there be another director that would do a better job. it seems that a remake is inevitable, so who really would do a better job and keep things relatively as close to the original as Carpenter's version?

Excuse me,  my brain is going to go into total prolapse for a moment.

SWEET BLACK FORNICATING JESUS SODOMIZING JUDAS WHILE MARY FELCHS!

Why?  Why? Why?

Okay,  I'm better now.

The only one they could pick that would do a WORSE job would be Uwe Boll or Joel Schumacher!

Carpenter is swiftly become the Lucas of the Horror Genre  ( remaking things that don't need to be remade and claiming "This was how I REALLY saw it in my head all those years ago.")

I would like to just watch the original....sometimes a remake just messes the movie up..but that's just my opinion

Depends on what kind of remake we are talking about.  The original "Halloween" is one of my favorites (Yes, that is William Shatner's face done in white) and really defined the stalker/slasher genre.  It's a classic.

If they just want to recreate it, I won't bother.  If they want to tell the story in a new way, expanding the Michael Myers mythos for instance, I might check it out.

The "Friday the 13th" series stayed fun because the producers kept a sense of humor about what they doing.  I haven't seen that in the more recent "Halloween" incarnations.  The more I think about it, the less hope I have it would be worth seeing.
