KnightofMists -> RE: When to call it quits? (10/14/2006 2:11:55 PM)

I responding in another thread that was apparently responded by this thread.  Well my answer her is not much different than the one I posted in that thread...

When to call it quits?

When the hope for happiness is dimmed by the reality of unhappiness that one is enduring.

(fast reply).

I didn't read all the replies but I tend to think MasterFire's advice summed it up in the best way.

Personally, the point where I would end a relationship is when it becomes apparent, after all conceivable concillatory measures have been employed to resolve the issues, that the other person is not committed to any effort to salvage things.

Relationships consist of two people. When only one person is committed, there is no longer a salvagable relationship, IMO.

You call it quits when there are more downs than ups.

When a dread fills you at the thought of spending time with them. I start taking actions to rekindle the flames soon as I notice intimacy waning, I really don't like giving up especially on a relationship.

When you spend most of your time together eyeing the knife drawer.

] Hmm, how does that fly when you love knife play a bit too much?

I hit a point in my first marraige years and years ago where I was waiting to get old and die of old age so I wouldnt have to put up with her crap any more.

But what really signaled to me that the relationship was ending was when she wanted to have serious conversations (translation: scream at me about nonsense for a while) and I would listen and the only response would be to laugh at her.

Did not seem to bode well for our future.

That'd definitely be a warning sign.
