of all the years i've been on CM, i sit in awe of all the extremely long-winded, nearly page-long posts that are in dire need of a Reader's Digest condension. am i the only one that find such posts to be difficult to maintain interests?

Your post was too long to read, would you please condense it for me?

Yep, got to be honest, I do tend to skip over the long posts..... I do try to read them, but as much as I try, I never seem to get to the end of some of them.

Sometimes the really long ones are worth reading.  But usually they're just too long.

I sometimes try to scan over them, but often I ignore them.

Not only the long posts..but the threads that are pages and pages long.  I read the forums by whatever catches My interest in the scroll bar at the left of the CM pages.   If when I click on a post, I see that it's already on page three or more, I don't bother reading any further.  Because in all likelyhood, whatever I may have thought to contribute, someone has already said anyway.  I pretty much have ADD of the Forums lol

Have you ever noticed the really long ones tend to be in weird fonts and colors.

Look - OK, I know I'm one of the guilty parties here. I do write a lot on occasion.

But you see, I just have so much wisdom to impart that really long posts are the only way to do it! I mean, I already have reduced them when theyre half a page long. I'm only thinking of others with giving my wisdom out for free in the first place, and already thought of others by making a precis of the vast amounts of wisdom I have to offer! And what I've found is, that those who write a lot, are generally the more intelligent members of CM too!

Honestly, some people are just so ungrateful!

Seriously though, I think we all learn quickly, whose long posts are worth reading, and whose are not. I think we also all soon learn that sometimes a longer post is necessary just to deflect the ifs, ands and buts that others will raise in objection, if we dont include every possible case in our reply to some thread or another. And yes, the odd fonts and colours are annoying!

Are we at half a page yet? No - damn, losing my touch.

In the age of the information superhighway, text messaging, voice responsive keyboards, Prozac,  and iPods, it's hard for alot of folks to maintain interest in anything.

Reminds me of a female poster that was on here last week with some named that said she was angry something or other. I started trying to read the thing but then realized it was just a bunch of bunk, got bored and just speed read the rest. Needless to say the snarky smart ass bitch in me just felt compelled to make a comment. ANNNND needless to say it was not appreciated.

*laughing* Definitely a good number of overlong posts. Sometimes I read them through, most times I skim and often lose interest in ones that don't make sense or catch my attention.
