Well, he's right, but his rhetoric is moving too far toward Fahrenheit 911.  I thought he was more consequential when he was talking about the anniversary of 9/11 and wasn't making sarcastic remarks.

There are still some states that restrict your Second Amendment rights.
I wonder what people would do if they tried to restrict your First Amendment rights?

You can have my second ammendment rights, I don't want them, I don't need them. Those who are so shrill about their arms seem to want them for the purpose of defending themselves againt a government/ administration that they worship so blindly. I'll keep my first ammendment rights, and DO NOT write me & tell me when my gun goes there goes my first ammendment. We have the courts, Bush has not emptied all the mental hospitals for federal judges yet, I'll take my arguments to the courts, not the barricades.

Is the second amendment more important than the others? I am not anti second amendment, but I am surely pro-bill of rights in general. We are all a bunch of fools because we have all consented to have our rights taken away

It is unfortunate that people do not understand the history of power, politics and government. It is rarely the initial reason why a right is taken away or a law created for something but then over time seeing people in power using this to blur the edges more and more until they are no more. It is not about this King George but the next President who might actually believe or for political reason interpit or use a law to an outrageous level. Like King George saying talking about something helps the terroists so if someone talks and they do not like what is said, lock them up. it is the start of the path that is the real dangerous part.

It is a shame that people do not seem to care about anything until it directly and right there and now effects them. It is unfortunate but too many simply do not care because it could never happen to them or so they think.

I like Oberman a lot and watch his show most of the time, but doing too many of these type of comments does hurt the individual messages as they get lost in look another rant by this guy. Oberman is actually aware of this personally I have seen him comment on this but it does seem like he has done too many within a short period of time that he takes on the appearence at least of the opposite of the person he really despises Bill O'Reilly. It looks almost like he is searching for another strong commentary instead of letting it just happen. Trying to make the news and not just report and comment on.

There are plenty of far left liberals who own guns, lots and lots of guns.  I own enough I don't even know what all I own anymore and I am as much a bleeding heart as anyone here.

See, now I just figured this was just all the presidents grand plan to help protect us from the terrorists.  If you recall in the "address to a joint session of Congress and the American people" back in sept 2001, he stated,

They hate our freedoms -- our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other

First we had the Patriot Act, then the illegal wiretaps and now the passage of the Military Commissions Act.  Personally I have felt that it is about time that something like the Military Commissions Act has been passed; how can we possibly expect to live by rules set down back in 1215 by people who weren't even Americans; magma carta, magna smarta. 

Lets face it, the only way to protect us is to be rid of those freedoms that are causing the terrorists to attack us.  But we can't do it all at once, too many people would protest; baby steps people.  Today it's the Military Commissions Act, tomorrow it will be "We the citizens of the United States, in Order to form...."  If you are a loyal god fearing citizen, and have your national ID card to prove it (because as a good citizen you should be proud to display it, anytime anyone asks), then you should hold your head up high, and trust that our beloved leader knows what is best for all of us, without questions. 

For this protection, isn't it the least we can do to make his job as easy as possible?  Now many would question how we could help him out.  What can we do?  Well some of us were listening, and we heard when in 2000 he said,

A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it.

No matter what you can say about this president, he really has done a lot to achieve that end goal, and he couldn't have done it without those people who represent all of us, since it is their job to voice how all of us feel, but there is still a lot more work to do.  It's a long road, and we have to stay the course.  The only way to stay the course however is by reassuring those responsible for allowing this success to take place by dutifully casting our vote in a few weeks to keep them in office. 

I know how I am voting.  :)
