CoeurNoir -> Bdsm Murder trial in uk (10/12/2006 7:23:28 AM)

There is a trial going on in uk at the moment which is often being dubbed a "Bdsm" or a "Master slave" murder trial. I find if you look at the facts of it, in the link below you will find its nothing more than jealousy and stupidity. The fact that he tried to kill her by stuffing a latex glove into her mouth, she had a latex allergy, is just a method rather than a fetish thing.

I wish the PRESS in general would stop this stupid harrassment of our lifestyle. I also think that it is more often than not a one sided or put view of this lifestyle. This artical I think points it out with its tried sensationalism ....."Henson, who demanded that Allison call him "master"...yes and? Catholic priests DEMAND you call them "father" now if that isnt freaky what is, and yet its termed as normal. I think that this type of reporting needs to stop! but well am I in the minority?

These are the kind of things that stereotype the lifestyle.  It wasn't until someone opened it up to me that I truly understood what it meant.  I'm begining to think that it really doesn't matter what people on the outside think.  People that have a deep seeded interest will eventually find the truth.  People are going to have their opinions regardless about this, or any other subject out there.

ive just read the arcticle and it all seems so crazy lol
i guess they have to make it sound much more interesting to sell the news
as a latex glove lover its annoying to hear it being made to sound so seedy and wrong
and what a twat for picking that way to try and kill her lmao its certainly made me chuckle

I live in the U.K and this is the first time i have heard of this trial. In the defence of whomever is dubbing this a bdsm related murder would have more information on the case than has been made publicly available. You cannot say for certain that this was not bdsm related and therefore your judgement here may be a little premature.
On the flip side of the coin certain tv programmes recently over here have portryed bdsm in a very bad light. Taggart featured a dom killing his subs very brutally. Wire in the blood featured a dom who preyed on vulnerable women off the internet, locking them up, using them, then killing them. Even mid summer murders had a bdsm theme today and not in a good light.
It is things such as these programmes that gives the lifestyle a bad rep not neccesarily news reports which could indeed for all we know be factual.

it's probably relevant to point out that the daily mail is so far to the right it makes Gee Dubya look like a commie, and for many years gave the fascists a voice, was overtly racist and very anti-gay. But it's also related to the recent government attack on "violent pornographic images" and indeed the spanner case which remains quite high profile.

It is true that media can put a spin on a story to elicit more emotions.  I believe the greater crime here is that a killer is a killer and a serial killer is a serial killer.  They chose their methods and some are using BDSM practices to hide their true desires/selves and to use as an excuse. "But officer, it was just a good scene gone wrong...'  Caution, safety and education are our best allies and hopefully the investigative teams will not discount important evidence and focus only on the BDSM aspects of the scene.  The Boston Strangler used articles of clothing .. does that mean he had a clothing fetish or did he use what was available to accomplish his desire to choke?  I wonder what the media would be claiming if this guy had used saran wrap?  That he was a frustrated pastry chef unable to fulfill his lifelong dream?
Whether the majority of people want to admit to it or not, I sincerely believe (from personal experience before I even knew there was a term for it)  that aspects of bdsm activity are practiced in 'vanilla' sex relationships.
The real issue here? The sad fact that a husband attempted to murder his wife.

thats crazy....I don't know if its a coincidence or not, but I do remember someone on this site (CM) had a name like "Salacious Squirrell" and something about liking to "nibble nuts"...maybe they got this from the article...but this must have been about a month or so ago if not more. Weird...

As far as the news goes.... anything that can be pumped up to keep the public interested is what sells. Of course they are going to exploit BDSM if they can... but i am not going to take much ridicule to heart from a culture that allows this practice (calling a virginal, childless man "Father") without raising an eyebrow. i think Alanis Morisette said it best when she sang "I confessed my darkest deeds to an envious man...."

Talk about things that make ya go ewwwwww

I think that its stupid that they felt the need to connect this to the lifestyle.  People are murdered and there are attempted murders every day by people in all walks of life.  I don't think that this situation had anything to do with the lifestyle.  I agree with CoeurNoir in that it is a case of jealousy and stupidity.  The news needs to stop hating and blaming our lifestyle simply to get more readers.

Personal view - if you think that the publicity given to kinkiness is ever going to become positive, think again. Either hide it, or live with public approbation. Just my two pence worth.

PS My first post!

Mistressnfantasy -> RE: Bdsm Murder trial in uk (10/17/2006 1:01:40 AM)

i have to say something here.... as a pro dommme I have had some clients come in to see me with horror stories.. from visiting other pro dommes who had no clue what they were really doing... Ive also seen Dommes off their face who have nearly killed people in their doped and drunken stupoir by not being aware that they were blocking someones wind pipe too long......the whole bd scene needs true and sturdy guidelines for people to monitor and abide to...
