Every attempt I've made to upload a jpg file directly from my computer, to use as my avatar has returned a message that says, "There was an error saving the file to disk." My jpg file is much smaller than the maximum size permitted, I made more than one attempt to upload it, and I tested more than one little file. Same messsage every time.

Can anybody tell me what the error may be? Am I overlooking some essential step? I tried to embed it in this message and the same thing happened. (I had no problem uploading my profile picture.)

Try praticing with it in the test area section of the forums. I never had this message so not sure what it could be.

Thank you, theroebabe. I hadn't looked deep enough to notice the test area before, but I did finally find the solution over there, while I was repeatedly testing: I was using a browser (Safari) that was incapable of doing the upload (for reasons that escape me). Anyway, all's well that ends well.
