Like i said - i transfered my addictions.  I've cold turkey way too many things on my own.

BUT i swear cigerattes are WORSE.  i've even heard they ARE.

So far with out the pepsi i'm doing fine.  LOL  When i woke up i wanted one... but..... aaaaaah i have this bottle of mineral water so whatever.  Wonder if imma go through caffiene withdrawal?

eh - so are you all telling me that once i quit smoking, imma have asthma?  Cos i might rather KEEP smoking!  You know - my grandmother, my aunt and my mother (all past 50) are still smokers and they do just fine.  None of them ever tried to quit.  But my Dad's mom did quit and now she has some health problems.

Quitting - seems like its going to create health problems for me.  (whatta great way to rationalize eh?)

Hello my name is LeeAnn and I am addicted to dark chocolate. Further more, I refuse to give it up.

Aside from that, I used to smoke and quit cold turkey about 15 years ago, call me crazy but I forget the exact date or even year.
I used to drink coffee all day every day. Now I restrict myself to Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I used to eat ALOT of chocolate, daily. In addition to any other sweet like pastries, baked goods etc.  It was nothing for me to go all day on nothing but black coffee and a pound bag of M&M's, and, I was skinny as a rail. Now I eat almost nothing with white sugar or white flour and am NOT skinny as a rail. But I do feel alot better and my stomach is much happier.

Good luck Riot, you just have to decide you are going to do it and kick the cravings in the ass. It will get easier.
( I say that as a bowl of Reeses Peanut Butter cups are sitting and mocking me from 10 feet away)

Thank god I never cared for any kind of soda. I have always been a water drinker.

Uh oh, you've made me see my weakness. Now I've gone searching for a 12-Step group that deals specifically with M&M addiction but I have come up empty handed. I've tried to quit cold turkey but everytime I go into a store those brightly colored little round orbs of chocolate bliss beckon me. I think I may need an intervention!!!

Damn, I was hoping somebody needed help with a sexual addiciton.

Still drinking coffee, espresso even, and smoking - I did quit the soda and alchohol, and all the rest, and I'd like to quit smoking - I deny myself in so many other areas, I gotta indulge one - ok several. Still, it hits me harder than it used to, although in some ways I feel better than I did in my Twenties.

Now if I could have sex everytime I wanted a cigarette, that might work - it would either work or I'd drop dead.

Well, for the women who want to quit smoking, I can offer a handsome cock to suck.  I mean, I am a man, and will do what I can for you.

After being clean of these addictions for 72 hours, it's really all in your head. Your physical addictions will be behind you. So here's my advice:

Hello A/all,

This is not necessarily true in all cases, although I have heard it about certain addictions.

I was drinking 2 or more quarts of coffee a day when I was living the sleepless life of working as a computer engineer and trying to get into the longshoremans union.  When I got in, I quit coffee cold turkey.  Maddening headaches for several weeks, insomnia, fuzzy headedness, grumpiness.  I was not really over it for almost a month.

I was on a medication back in the early 1990s which I tapered off over 2 months.  It had all sorts of really bad side effects of quitting that one, including bugs under the skin, insomnia, narcolepsy, extreme mood swings, etc.  I would have occaisional relapses months later because I was exercising like a fiend to get back in shape and it would unlock some from fat cells.

Technically, the first 72 hours are all in your head as well.  As Morpheus said "What is reality?  It is electrical impulses interpreted by your brain."

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

RiotGirl,

I suggest you think outside the box on this one.

Smokers often have difficulty quitting because they dont know what to do with their hands without a cigarette in them.

She has TMJ which would give her difficulty sucking his cock.

So kill two birds with one stone and use the Kung-fu action grip approach while sucking on it which would give the smoker something to do with her hands.

Two problems, solved as one cohesive whole.

What would work for you, mistoferin, would be to take it in stages.

Each week you give up a different color M&M and gradually your brain chemistry will recover.

I don't think there is any reasonable way to give up m&m's.  I think it's unreasonable to even consider such nonsense.  Unless they are the peanut m&m's, those are not needed for happiness.

All that happens after 72 hours is the metabolites associated with nicotine leave the body. In other words the nicotine has been expelled from the blood and urine and is no longer present. It does not mean that the body does not crave nicotine anymore, just like expelling all the alcohol out of the body does not make alcoholics not alcoholics after 48 hours.

Well I'm pretty sure I could give up the red ones no problem....cause those ones are just...well....kinda yucky.

The brown ones....it would be tough but I think I could.

But then we get to the bright colors!!! THOSE are going to pose big hurdles.
