Cuz Gloucester and Worcester end in -cester, not -chester.

There's also Leicester ("Lester"), for you fellow Britspeak lovers.

South of Philadelphia there's a suburb called Chichester; in England that'd be pronounced "Chitchestah," but around here it's "Chai-chester," like they're drinkin' chai.
