whats the difference between a slave and a sub?

onceburned -> RE: slave/sub (1/24/2005 7:39:21 AM)

Oh dear, its a very good question but one that gets asked frequently and many people here have lost their patience for it. I just want to warn you. [;)]

But my understanding is that a sub has choices and can say no many times. A slave has given up all choice in the relationship, except for the decision to stay or go.

a submissive will submit each time she surrenders her will to her Master, a slave will only surrender her will once, when she accepts his collar she has given up any and all limits and her will, so she does not choose each time her Master pushes her limits whether she will submit or not.

mercxi...

You will find that the difference between a slave/sub is as unique to the individual as a snowflake.

Some will tell you subs have a choice. Slaves have none, save their Masters. Some say that subs are the same as a bottom, and slaves are different. This is where I disagree. I am not a slave. If I have to... then I describe myself as a submissive. I have no 'choice' in my relationship. I obey Masters Will. Nothing else matters. If Master Desires to call me 'pet' then I would have no choice but obey His Will. If He Desires to call me by my Name... I Answer. So, by some peoples definition... I am a slave. I have no will. My Master is the One I listen to. Because I have no choice.

If you wish... do a search for sub/slave in the forum... you will find lots of discussions... although I am sure proud will post them for you!

The truth is... the One Who is Dominant in the relationship who decides.

i agree with dark~angel.... what a person calls themselves or their sub/slave is really all up to them. There are people out there who really seem to enjoy setting criteria, "you are not a slave unless you do xyz like W/we do." Really it is all up to you and your partner.

Of course, as my Master says, "Slave sures sounds sexier than 'submissive', doesn't it?" [;)]

I have to agree with Angel and Phoenix, you are whatever you and your partner decide you to be.
I probably have the hardest view of all of slaves and submissives here. From prior knowledge knowing those who called themselves slaves. Because of that, I've never met a slave in the past 20 year's by my definition. Although I have met many who call themselves one.

So, don't take it too hard when someone call's you something you don't identify with. Just smile and say thank you and know in your heart they are clueless. Those who matter will take the time to get to know you.

Though i tend to lean toward the sub has rights/slave has none understanding, Master has a different take. He says a slave is a submissive in a relationship, that when you are single and free, you are a submissive, but once you enter a relationship you become a slave. i kind of agree with that as well, because most submissives (i think) would agree to their limits being set by their owner once they enter a relationship, or to at least having boundaries pushed.

EmeraldSlave2 -> RE: slave/sub (3/4/2005 5:58:41 AM)

A slave has at least four orgasms a night.

Seriously...

Ask 20 people and you will get 20 answers. There is no solid definition for these and I don't think there ever will be. Ultimately you have to feel what works right for you.

My answer? I think a submissive is someone who is fulfilled in intimate personal relationships by transferring authority over most aspects of life on a daily basis to someone else who has responsibility for that authority.

I think a slave accepts the limits of their owner and retains no ultimate authority in their life.

A sub is a sandwich. (e.g. Quizno's Sub)

A slave is a component of a computer network controlled by another machine or component.

I think there are other threads discussed about it.
Check back the thread listing under this section.

Here is my take on this:

A Smbmissive is the submissive part of an relationship. Her or she is still her own person and she can leve the relationship. She have just desided to let another make the desitions. Most women in a 1950s household and before was submissive to their husbands, letting him have final say. The degree of hardness and submission waries, from just old fashiond husband and wife to extreme things, but throug it all the submissive have a choice, she can take back the submission she have given. She had lend her freedom to her Master, not given it away.

A Slave give away her freedom. Ofcourse in this day and age she can leve the relationship. But in teory she is property. Lik a chair or a pet dog. She has as much say in the realtionship as her Master give her, every thing in her life is gifts from her Master. And her freedom was a gift, not somthing she loaned out.
