Conch Piercing Question - 10/15/2006 12:40:03 PM

Does anyone know if it's normal to have some swelling after a conch piercing?  I got pierced last Wednesday and my ear is painful to the touch, red and swollen.  No secretions or anything, though.  I'm extremely diligent about not touching it and cleaning as instructed.  This is the first time I've ever had any kind of discomfort from a piercing so I'm a little concerned.

I know this is a cheesy answer but have you contacted the piercer?

It's 'normal' to have swelling after any piercing.

The piercing itself wasn't bad at all.  The girl that pierces me is pretty good.

I had one of the best piercers in Alberta (now retired) do my two, and they hurt like an SOB. They didn't swell significantly though. Have you tried soaking a cotton ball(s) in saline solution and holding them against the piercing? I found that helped, since I couldn't soak my ear with sea salt and then mild saline like I normally would. Of course, mine healed very quickly (because I'm Wolverine!!!). :D
