subjected2006 -> Any movie goers here? (10/15/2006 2:24:51 PM)

I try to see a movie once a week.
I was wondering about the rest of you..
I would prefer live theatre but  plays are difficult and get a bit costly for
me in my area.
I saw the "Marine " last night and though  I was pretty much certain I would be bored with it , I found it was really rather good and not as cliche as the Post review suggested.
The explosions  were really great.LOL
Some of the fight scenes were actually a  turn on for me....any body else?
The close ups of the "T -1000 terminators" eyes in the rear view mirror evoked huge guffaws from the audience.
There was something disturbing about the female stars face..something odd going on there I think, anyone else see it?
sighs..I love muscles..and she has a great butt.
Has anyone heard of John Cena before?

I was going to see the Departed but we got there late.
Any  one seen that yet?

I love movies but rarely go.   I  have decided it is cheaper on me to wait 3 months for the DVD to come out and just buy it.   If I am unsure if I really want it, then I wait another 3 months and it will come out on one of the movie channels on my dish.

I have not seen a movie at the theatre in a long time. Cena is, I think, a pro wrestler, as well as actor (is that redundant? LOL).

I want to see the new Scorsese film, and the new Clint Eastwood pic about Iwo Jima (actually it's two movies, one for our POV, one from the Japanese POV).

I just saw a preview today and it looked interesting.

I haven't seen a movie (at the theater, anyway) in ages.  I think I've seen three in the last year.  I just don't have time. [:(] (plus nothing really looks appealing these days)

WyrdRich -> RE: Any movie goers here? (10/15/2006 4:23:39 PM)

We are forever seeing commercials and saying, "we should go catch that," and then it simply doesn't happen.  Given the price of a trip to see something in a 'first run' theater, we'll often just wait and buy the DVD.

Yesterday was an exception.  "The Black Dahlia," is playing at the 'second run' house and we enjoyed it.  Not great, but the plot twisted along an interesting path, and Hillary Swank made it onto the list of celebreties I'd like to spank.

I've heard excellent things about "Flyboys," and will try to catch that on a big screen.

I saw the preview for "The Marine", that looks pretty exhilarating.  I used to be a movie goer fanatic, but they just don't make it worth my time these days, so I'm more of a dvd fanatic, I generally see about three dvd's a week.  I recently joined a local movie group and I may go with them to see a flick once ever so often.  That is if the if we all agree on one one that has major appeal to us me, because, as on rare occasions, some films warrant being seen in the theater.

I'm not sure if the movie you speak of is actually about the Marine Corps.....but for the record, I thought '' JarHead'' was excellent. And ''Flyboys'' was good also.

Level... you're think of Flags of our Fathers... the new Clint Eastwood movie...great book... hope the movie is as good.

Not much of a movie going person now a days... not just because of illness either... prices are just to much around here. it's almost $9.00 for adults...and mantinees are still close to $7.00... so I wait for the dvd as well.. got to be pretty good to get me to pay those $$$ for theater... like Flags of our Fathers.....lol...that I'll be paying for.....

Kedicat -> RE: Any movie goers here? (10/15/2006 11:59:02 PM)

I like to go to a theatre to see BIG movies. Ones with lots of BOOM or lots of AWWwwweee.

I got a widescreen and buy DVDs for the rest. Or go to the old downtown theatres to see the more offbeat ones.
Back on dayshift now. So maybe I will be out to more theatres.

But live bands vie for my pleasure dollars too.

Bluebird -> RE: Any movie goers here? (10/16/2006 1:05:26 AM)

I LOVE going to the movies - you cannot beat the giant screens and the THX sound even if you have a good home theater system.  I will watch movies at home sometimes, but I keep getting up to do laundry, get a snack, feed the cat, etc. and it really disrupts the story.

I saw The Departed and it is quite good - very violent, but integral to the plot, not gratuitous.  I am eagerly awaiting the opening of Flags of our Fathers next week.

As far as it being too expensive - most of the chains sell coupon books or have coupons in the Entertainment book - yes, I am a cheapie and like my coupons :-)  Matinees are great too - you can eat a big bucket of popcorn for lunch and by the time the nausea wears off, it is time for dinner!

jesskitty -> RE: Any movie goers here? (10/16/2006 11:48:29 AM)

i love movies but due to the costs and lack of umph i just don't go to much. though i think the best way to view movies is in the comfort of your own home with a bunch of frieinds. especially because you can make all the coments you want and not bother anyone else knowing your friends are into that too.

LaTigresse -> RE: Any movie goers here? (10/16/2006 11:53:05 AM)

I am one of those people that almost never goes to the movie theatre. I would LOVE to see a major production, real live play, omg that would be awsome. BUT I live in Iowa, slightly lacking in the live entertainment.

I do love great movies as the DVD collection on the farm shows. I generally wait until they are out on DVD and buy them or wait until they are on satellite tv.

jdtallfem -> RE: Any movie goers here? (10/16/2006 12:08:26 PM)

I love going to movies. Nothing better than a matinee and while the price has gone up I still think it's wrothwhile.
