First do the tests and afterwards change your diet. If you make the problem go away before they do the tests, they will find nothing. So you want these symptoms until the tests are done.

I suspect a herpes virus (my obsession). If so, I can provide an effective diet.

Herpes causes such symptoms as she discussed?  Wow... who knew?  I'd always heard it just made nasty bumps and sore lips.

I'm happy to hear that this didn't turn out to be something serious, and happier to hear that you received such positive news, also! Congratulations!

Indeed, if the ovarian cyst is fluid-filled, (they'd want a biopsy and possible monitoring for later surgical intervention if it was solid - more chance to be malignant), they are generally benign and doctors nowadays write them off unless they become very painful, overly large or interfere with function.

They 'fill' with cycles and can rupture or drain on their own, but the reason the doctors told you it will shrink is because your body produces progesterone throughout your pregnancy. Natural progesterone signals to the ovaries to stop producing eggs - which, without ovulation, without occurrence of a follicle...the cyst will not be able to grow - it will shrink and likely take care of itself.

One thing I did want to mention though is a diet high in sugar and highly refined carbs can contribute to this and make it worse. I have been dealing with severe ovarian cyst issues for years now, and maintaining a more healthy diet and exercise for at least six months is necessary to see a change. While this cyst will probably shrink and not present a problem during your pregnancy, you will do yourself a huge favor changing your habits now, benefitting both your long-term health as well as this pregnancy, to lay the foundation to move away from developing chronic cysts...

Best,

Thea

P.S. If anyone should need info on ovarian cysts or treatment of same, (PCOS included), please message Me and I'd be happy to share.

I told you pregnancy could cause some of those symptoms. Congrats and eat right.

There are eight known human herpes virusses and they may cause all kinds of nasty diseases.

You will be so shocked when you read the book I am writing about the herpes virusses. It is in Dutch, though.

My suspicion was also fed by other symptoms that she mentioned in another thread at an earlier time. However, to be on the cautious side, I did recommend that she first do all the medical tests. Those test came through: she is pregnant and has an ovarian cyst.

Course i'm gonna take good care - )  I might have low standards for myself, but not for another human being.  LOL (that was sort of a joke)

i'm working on having a balanced diet.  Tho as retarded as that sounds - i dont quite remember what that entails anymore.  LOL  I havent had to worry about what i eat in AGES.  But i'm working on it.  I figure a postive start is good food and anything with vitamins in it.  Vitamins because i should have them anyways and plus they might make up for any lack i have.  I need to have a stable level of all vitamins and minerals that i'm supposed to have.

I am completely not drinking pepsi now.  LOL  Which is fine, i can find better substitutes.  So i'm pretty much out of input of "sugar" into my body.  Tho i do know SOME sugar is good - but i have yet to figure what to do about that.  Alittle bit of the bad stuff is supposedly good.  But then maybe i've a good build up of the bad stuff so i dont need to worry about it.  Thank GOD, i have saved all my books.  I was abit fanatical about my first pregnancy and i've tons and tons and tons of books on the stuff.  So i suppose i need to like break out one of the "healthy diet" books and start like making meal plans so i know what to eat.  I know the basics, but basics arent like good enough right now.  I know to feed my daughter fruits, veggies, meats, beans, some carbs and ect.  But like i want to make sure i am inputting specific vitamins and minerals.

Thankfully this means i dun have to worry about my wieght so much anymore.  I can gain weight and not have a mental cow.  I just happen to be one of those girls that if she eats she gains weight and i was working on getting to be 100 lbs (which is like 10 lbs below normal) so i was pushing myself to get there.  Now that thats out the window, eh.

I wonder - can i visit the dentist pregnant?  Does that matter?  I know, no x rays...

::sigh::  As gay as it sounds - i'm really really good at taking care of others, but crap at taking care of myself.  So being pregnant sorta involves me in that process.  LOL

Oh - Proud Sub - no worries!  Hey if you hadnt scared me i wouldnt be so excited and i wouldnt have a good reason for feeling like crap.

Thanks Thea - i'll remember that

And Rule - oh i knw i dont have herpes.  Another thing i'm abit fanatical about.  STD's.  Comes from living in Hong Kong i think and swiming in the water ment you had to be tested for Hep B or something..... Disease was so rampant that if i dont test for Std's regurally (some reason i cant remember how to spell that word) - i feel literally "dirty"

It's fine to visit the dentist while you are pregnant, just be sure to disclose your condition.

Well, now you are charged with taking care of another, that's what being pregnant is.  So do all of the good things you are supposed to.

Congratulations.

What I have learned:
1. The ovarian cyst suggestion was correct.
2. Never trust a woman who says that there is no chance that she may be pregnant.

Congrats Riot,

Rule,  just try working in the ER a few years,  just when you think you have heard it all you hear a new one.

-Do you take any drugs----no
-any recreational drugs-----yes the birth control~~~~2 questions to the same person

-any chance you could be pregnant-no
-are you on birth control-                no
-are you having sex-                       yes
-is he fixed-                                   no
Surprise Surprise you are pregnant,  and she was an adult with kids and truly honestly surprised she was pregnant.  She was actually indignant when I was asking the questions

Or, the teenager whose diagnosis is conclusively that she's pregnant, swearing to her parents with wide, innocent eyes that she's never had sex with any boys.  Honest!

Then of course there is always the woman(me) who insists that there is no possibility of pregnancy and the doctor who insists on having the test...just to be sure. I said ok but if that test comes back positive you had better inform the Pope.   Lol....pregnancy test results....negative of course.

Don't take it personally....we get pregnancy tests from patients ages 11 to 60 or so.  Unfortunately, we've had positives on 11-year-olds.  I think 46 is the oldest I've personally seen a positive on.  I couldn't find any record if she'd committed suicide...I know I would

Talk to your doc and have them give you some guidance on pre-natal diet, vitamins, etc.  Don't do that whole thing alone (or with the internet, either.)

Medical care is always the first option.  You have possible regions that are causing the issue, the digestive tract stomach, intestines and the pelvic region.  See both a gyn and gastro doctor to rule all things out.  If all this is clear, have wheat/gluten allergy checked. Your symptoms sound strongly like wheat allergy.  If all that is clear, try these things.

For reflux - drink citric acid like orange juice. Often the stomach acid is low causing the bile to reflux up the throat.

Upset stomach - ginger (ginger ale rocks)

Constipation - increase flaxseed meal, omega 3, olive oil

Loose bowel - increase water intake may be dehydrated.  Also cut back on ruffage temporarily (fruit, grains, corn, greens)
