bbwextreme2 -> Fakes? (10/17/2006 10:57:53 PM)

Okay so maybe i missed it some where or maybe its just me but i see a lot of profiles claiming that the said person is not a fake and is truely in to the lifestyle...but if one is true to the lifestyle why must you bring up the fakes can't you just ignore them? i mean that seems logical to me. It makes me wonder if maybe they are the fakes and are just trying to hide the fact that they are? any thoughts??

How can we know what other people are thinking based upon so little information. Different things motivate the same behavior

any thoughts??

Not really, many people ponder fakedom over the internet

bbwdesires -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 12:33:17 AM)

The internet is a medium to allow a person to be who he wants to be....A woman, a man, thin, fat, athletic, couch potatoe....a fake!!! wht is a fake...do we never lie or expand the truth just a little bit???   we not only tell lies we also fall for the lies.....if you want to be fake then surely that is allowed....just dont break a heart....dont promise yourself to another when you know your not that person to offer....it makes finding a true person harder and it makes trusting a person almost possible....

Who the hell really knows?  They could be genuine, yet make a point of saying they're not fake because they do not want to be mistaken for a fake.   *shrug*

rook42 -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 12:51:06 AM)

Hum... Guessing they're used to getting mail that claims counter to that. Some people receive mail just to claim that their picture is fake, or mail that insults the addressees "realness" when they snub advances. A bit hilarious when you think about the logic on the latter (Assuming that it just isn't human nature). Now I haven't really dealt with this personally, but a rational outcome goes like this:

Sender: "Hey baby...  (Etc. etc.)"
Sendee: "Sorry, not really looking right now/Sorry, wrong gender/Sorry, RT only"
Sender: "...You're totally not a true lifestyler..." ----> This is the perfect way to woo someone over, obviously.

This doesnt have to be limited to CM, the internet, or dating. Everyone's seen individuals that are all rainbows and candycanes about another until any form of rejection takes place, before said individuals radically change their tune. Theoretically, if one had enough people attacking one's "alternative-lifestyleness" (Although why lifestyle/-lifestyle is positive/negative is beyond me), they might see the need to start defending it.

nikaa -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 2:59:06 AM)

I know many submissives and slaves on CollarMe who are often told because they respond or don't respond to varias emails as the Dom/me says they should are called fakes. I also know several Domme's who have declined submissives /slaves and then been called fake. The same can be said for some switches. It seems that many use the term "fake" when they feel rejected.

Some of these people have began placing that they are not fake in their profile. Though I personally wouldn't give a someone that satisfaction I do understand their frustration.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 7:24:27 AM)

A lot of people get frustrated with online culture and it tends to come out most in their profiles.  Whether it's a litany of "Don't dare contact me if you are any of the following!" or a rant about how tired you are of all the fakes, or insulting the site you have the profile on because so many of the people are fakes- it's very common.

Personally I think it's a waste of energy and displays one as a negative person who doesn't know how to just relax and deal with a situation.

toservez -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 9:26:32 AM)

When people put the "I am real" or " I am not a fake" statements or similar language it comes off most of the time as a whine, (wait a minute, a thread from a couple of days ago said dominants do not whine...), so lets call it a statement of frustration.

People are always looking for shortcuts in everything, especially online. When people make those statements it is just an ill thought out attempt to separate themselves from the pain in dealing with players and also to boost their ego. After all 99.99% of the dominants online are either fake, dangerous or liars on a grand scale, but the one who writes "I am real" is actually better then everyone therefore if they write you, you need to take them more seriously and understand that their "realness" makes them special.

I think it is born out of frustration mostly as I am sure they get tired of no replies or negative replies and dealing with the players and it is their attempt to get up on a table and scream "Look at me! I am serious about this! Stop thinking about other people!".

Personally when I see it in a profile or a message it is quite a negative or at best a waste of space. It is like calling yourself intelligent, safe and honest. They are just things everyone would call themselves that others have to make a judgement on. There are no profiles that are written "I am dumb, dishonest and dangerous but I am also a fake so who cares". The statement just has no real meaning on the whole even though it makes sense to the one who uses it. Like a real fake does not have the abillity to also write "I am real".

All I know is that if you combine "I am real" with "If you are real" in a message to me, you are not going to get a positive reply.

Sometimes it is as if they need to reassure themselves.

MagiksSlave -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 9:39:28 AM)

LOL seems that fake is the worst thing anyone can be called around here....

the way I see it is everyone here is real or they wouldnt be able to type, everyone is real somewhere to someone, weather or not they are truethfull is a different story but you can assume that there is a real flesh and bones person behind the protfiles here just maybe not ones you want to assosiate with.

Squeakers -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 11:15:59 AM)

I think fakes are in the eyes of the beholder.   I have been called a fake myself by many (not here) but in various chat rooms because I have not allowed myself to fall subject to the current protocol in a chat room---example calling every Dom Sir  and every subbie sis or worse yet the dreaded sissa (who thought that one up?)    I am me an individual and see things in a way that is comfortable for me yet open enough to allow other ideas to be pondered.
Over the years, I have met many people in D/s sometimes, I will think quietly to myself or at times if the mood strikes me I will verbalize what a "fake", however that is just how I see things.   Is my assumption correct, not always because for someone else that one I see as a fake could be the best Master some other submissive ever had and it works for them or vice versa.
When thinking back to when I first began my journey, I was pretty much a 'fake'.   I wasn't sure of what I really wanted, I followed the lead of my then Master and took everything he said as the honest to goodness truth.   Of course that was a time when the internet was not at my finger tips, hell I am pretty sure it didn't even exsist and if it did it was very limited in who had access.   So I basically had to obtain all wisdom about D/s from him.  The internet is pretty useful in seeing others ideas and meeting new people and  if I met my first today as he was then I might think quietly---fake!
I guess what I am saying is sometimes a person forgets what it was like when he or she first started and the journey is one that must be cultivated.  That person one may consider a fake may just be starting and not know too much about it and is getting their feet wet or simply may be a person that is not a perfect match to oneself.
Putting not fake in ones profile is to me like saying 8 years experience or whatever.   One can have many years experience but it won't matter a bit to me if we look at things from two different angles and cannot communicate on a common ground.    So if one wanted to put not a fake in his or her profile---that is not going to cause me to say---Yep this is just the profile I need to answer.   Would I avoid a profile that stated that---it would all depend on what else was included.

amaidiamond -> RE: Fakes? (10/18/2006 1:49:48 PM)

*hunts out her standard response to the "Fake" thread......* dammit can't find the darn thing.... um, it's the internet, some are "fake" some are "real" some are real acting fake or fake acting real or a mix of both or cyber only, end of the day doesn't really matter, if you like someones profile contact them, if your don't then don't bother. tis life!
