ORIGINAL: Rover "Protocols" is just another way of saying "personal preferences" since there is no univerally established protocol for anything in this lifestyle. More than likely it refers to what she was taught, and either assumed or was told are the "right" way to do it. I was thinking the same. I remember when I was to first meet my Master in person and offer myself to him, I was nervous because I did not know "proper protocol." He said, "Your protocol is whatever I say it is." What good would it have done to present myself in a way that he was not fond of, after all? As for puppy training, I was trained in the manner in which he enjoyed. I'm not sure about competition training and such. What would signify a "purebred?" :) quote:
And frequently, people derive a greater satisfaction from pretending that their personal preferences (protocols) are somehow part of a great lineage going back decades, centuries, etc. Is tihs a new trend or something? Awhile back I spoke to a slave who said she was trained in the "old guard, gorean ways, from the ancient European days before the John Norman books....in ways that are undocumented." I scratched my head at that, particularly since she viewed slavery as highly romantic and, well, I don't think slaves were pampered so much back then. But hmm, who knows....eh?
