Now Foley says its the Catholic's fault. He says he was molested by a priest when he was young. I just have a hard time believing anything he says. First  he used the alcohol defense. Guess he is going to see if this one pans out.

Gosh, I thought you were going to say he was now molesting a goat - how disappointing - ROFL

The priest claim came out the same day as the Alcohol thing. But as you say I'm not buying it, Foley did what he did and he needs to be held to account. The only thing he did that leaves him any respect in my book is he resigned when caught. (likely was forced to resign).
Beond that he's handled the rest of this poorly and as the facts come out I am perfectly willing to see him tried should the criminal line have been crossed in any way.

Has anyone ever noticed that it's usually the men that use the "I was sexually abused and that's why I sexually abused" theory??  I mean, I am sure women have also, but by no means as much as the men have.

It's just another way to try and get out of taking responsibility for their own actions.  It gets very old, and very tiring.

I was abused, and I was raped..would that excuse me going and doing the same thing??  Nope, not one bit.  I am still a person that makes my own personal choices, good and bad, and I should be expected to deal with the backlash from them.

I think what makes me more frustrated is that he is an openly gay, republican, that probably would have won again (in case no one noticed, there aren't many of those).  He is just giving fuel to the fire that all gay men were abused, or are abusers of kids.  That is something that the right-wing people don't need any more help with.

Shame on him for pulling out the "abuse card", step up and own what you did, or you didn't do.  Quit putting it off on everyone else, and using the "poor me" syndrome.

Next it'll be his mother's fault because she spanked his ass.

Every time I see something like this I feel I must have been an ugly child. I was an alter boy from the 3rd grade through high school and was never solicited or molested once by a priest! I feel so bad and deprived that I don't have anyone to blame, or more importantly sue, for my psychosis. Wonder if I can file a complaint because the lack of this experience makes me feel inferior? I better check with my lawyer!

This seems to be somewhat common among the Republican party these days.

The Abramhoff shit-bomb...

Monkeyboy's past...

Gingrich...

Delay...

Foley...

Hastert...

I almost feel sorry that they taught the Democrats the same sorts of tactics that were used to take down President Clinton.

Almost.

Just me, could be wrong, etc.

There are any number of things which I consider the fault of the Simian In Chief.

I dont tend to place a congressman violating the law with a minor child entrusted to his care to be one of these things.

My point was that the Republicans have been busily shooting themselves in the head breaking the law and the spirit of the oath of office they are sworn to uphold for years.  Now they are paying the price...

If the boozing and priest things dont work - I wonder if you'll find out next he was abducted by aliens and gang probed?

Drunken catholic aliens of course.

Do they wear silver jumpsuits?

Do they have Kung Fu Action Grip?

Enquiring minds want to know.

I thought him being a Republican would be proof enough for him to declare his state of mind was unbalanced and it really wasn't his fault.
