Status: offline 		     Remember a while back, boys and girls, when Tom Cruise went on the Oprah Winfrey show and confessed his love for the comely young actress, known the world over as "Katie Holmes."?  Do you guys also remember how the media blasted him for his actions on "Oprah"...........jumping excitedly on the couch, speaking in a tongue that can only be deciphered as Lovespeak.? 

Ain't it the greatest thing in the world, when a man who has reached old Tommy-
Boy's age and can still feel the pangs of love at his heart........ can still know that adolescent "butterflies in the stomach" sensation when thinking about his beloved. 
What a miracle that a man Tom's age isn't so jaded and beaten down by the world, that he still possesses the energy to be spontaneous, and jump on a fucking couch in a fit of youthful joy.

   How dare Entertainment Tonight, and every damn media vampire out there in T.V. land try and take a rip on Tom Cruise for being excited and SPONTANEOUS about LOVE, for God's sake, in a world full of triteness, war, Prozac, exploitation, and avarice.  How dare those assholes call his actions "embarrassing", when they've probably lost the capacity to feel emotions to that degree.  Mr Cruise's behavior on "Oprah", is, in my opinion, an indicator of what's RIGHT, with America, in the midst of all the shittiness that our country is takin' on these days.

    Sorry about brining it up guys, but I just read ANOTHER article ripping on Tom Cruise for being a weirdo, and I felt like playing "Devil's Advocate".

Status: offline 		I didn't get to see the Oprah show you're talking about.  Does his love interest like him at all, or was she indignant or uncomfortable with his...disclosing his feelings on tv?

*Thinks many would have a heart attack and set up a sanity hearing...if the President flopped down in some snow and made a snow angel just for fun, lol.*  Glad to see someone dancing on air...even if it's one sided. 

I wish I had seen this episode, but alas, I haven't had tv reception in almost 14 years.

  Did you guys know the term, metrosexual, was originally coined in either 94, or 95, (can't remember the exact date) by a writer who specifically mentioned Tom Cruise as an example of the young, affluent, urbanite male, who, not possessing the financial worries of the rest of America, had the time and resources to go the gym, dress up, and exfoliate on a regular basis.  Later, the term was slightly twisted by popular use to mean "a straight man who possesses the habits of a gay man.."  I thought it was an interesting fact........Tom Cruise is the original metrosexual.

I have never liked Tom Cruise, from his days in Risky Business to the present.  I think his acting is mediocre at best, and painful at worst.  He irritates me like prickly heat in the middle of the summer.  I watched the episode of Oprah where he behaved so oddly, and watched how poor Katie looked mortified when she saw him...  with her nervous, uncomfortable smile.

I also think that his views on several subjects as well as his spiritual beliefs are completely bizarre.  That's just my opinion.  I can't stand him, don't watch him on tv or film, and don't buy any magazines with him on the cover.  He makes me physically ill just to look at him.  He's got the kind of face that makes me want to smack that stupid grin right off of it...  really hard.  Besides that, he acts like he has a Napoleon complex...  compensating for his "little man syndrome."

Wish I could say that I had strong feelings about him, but... meh...

Status: offline 		LOL....i couldn't have said it better myself. i look at he and Katie and i see a freak who found a young girl who wanted to boost her career by being seen on the arm of one of America's most sought after actors and thus agreed to be his baby incubator. i mean, let's not forget that Nicole Kidman couldn't get a job in Hollywood until Tom handpicked her for that stupid Cold Trickle movie or whatever it was. AND he is just not all that like everyone seems to think. All i can think is "Poor Katie".  I also have a hairdresser friend who knows another hairdresser in Hollywood who says Tom is as gay as they come sooooo....can you get any more fake?     

Edited to add I hate the fucking TomKat thing!!!  Why must we mesh the names of every famous couple that gets together anymore?!?!

Status: offline 		I don't dislike Tom Cruise and there have been movies I've really liked of his, but lately he just seems...I don't know...off.  The Kate Homles thing, the Tom vs Brooke, scientology, etc.  Just all of a sudden, there was just an explosion of really strange things that I just don't understand.  I didn't watch the Oprah interview and I don't see why everyone freaked out because he jumped on some couch.  Sure, it's unexpected and spontaneous but isn't that what the media loves?  They did put a negative spin on it when it didn't really deserve it.  Actually, the act didn't really deserve much of the publicity it got.  Especially not a part in Scary Movie 4.  I also don't know much about Scientology, Tom Cruise's views, Brooke's views and all that.  From what I gathered from random mentionings, Tom criticized Brooke for using medication to curb her post-partum depression.  She struck back, he struck back for her striking back...  I don't understand why he felt the need to criticize her.  For one, he doesn't and couldn't know what she was feeling at the time.  Second of all, it was her choice and obviously it helped her in some way and that should be all that matters.  I don't really see what she does is any of his business--or anyone else's business for that matter.  I realize she was rather open about it but I still think Tom should have respected her decision, as it was hers to make.  Before this incident and other incidents, I don't remember anyone criticizing him for his decisions or his beliefs.  Maybe I just wasn't listening, I don't know...

Aside from when celebrities openly talk about something, I have a disdain for gossip mags and other garbage.  I'm an aspiring writer and it gives some of us bad names.

      Every time a good-looking man, who isn't the absolute portrait of rough masculinity makes it in Hollywood, the rumor mill, ESPECIALLY in the gay community (mostly fueled by wishful thinking), turns into a closet case.  I think it's pretty damn obvious by now that Tom Cruise isn't gay.
