There are many wonderful men out there.  I am not a beauty but constantly have doors opened for me and smiles given.   I always smile back say thank you and keep going but it does give me a lift for the day.

My dad taught me to open doors etc for pretty girls.   His definition, the one I was taught is that a pretty girl is one that has 3 holes and 2 bumps in the front.   I even appologize if I fail to see a pretty girl coming through a door that I didn't hold for her.

It is a nice gesture, isn't it?  Some men open the door and are really dear about it.  Some hold the door open as though it is an inconvenience for them. I really love the ones (actually men and women included) walk right through a door with no regard that you are walking right behind them, and let it swing shut right in front of you!  Gee, thanks. [;)]

Hello A/all,

I posted once, it might have been here, about the ideals of Chivalry being a very Dominant approach to life.  I might have been shouted down by the ravening hordes who insisted that Chivalry is dead.

I still believe that holding doors for women, making sure she walks on the inside of the curb, carrying her groceries, etc., is a lovely gesture and dont see it as being the slightest bit submissive on my part.

What part of opening a door so she doesnt have to, and indicating that she should proceed through it because I Dominantly have the door issue covered, is submissive?

Plus, it seems to make a lot of women I do it for get all gooey and stuff.

I plan on acting tht way for a long time.

Just me, could be wrong, but there you go.

Sinergy

My Daddy opens doors for women all the time, it is part of that "be chivalrous" paradigm he tries to follow....

He has consistently opened doors for me since day one... from car doors to restaurant doors. He does this not only when people are watching, but when we cannot be seen by others... it is not silly to enjoy this, it is  rather pleasant and a kindness that can make a day that might not have been going well a little better....

Perhaps men should know that we appreciate this very much... at least I do.

Then there were my two boys....they'd hold the door open for another woman and then forget about poor old ma behind them and let it shut in my face, lol.  They did better later on, lol

What do ya do when an old bastard opens the door for you.....?????

proudsub -> RE: I Know This Is Silly... (10/20/2006 2:31:20 PM)

Hubby holds the door and greets anyone and everyone. Sometimes at a restaurant he is standing there forever holding the door and i am wondering if we will ever get a seat because all those people end up in front of us in line.

Lordandmaster -> RE: I Know This Is Silly... (10/20/2006 2:34:27 PM)

Sometimes I hold the door for people and sometimes I don't, but it's NEVER because the other person is male or female.

I've always been of the opinion that people's manners tell you nothing about who they are and whether you want to be their friends.  I value loyalty, honesty, courage, and open-mindedness.  And that's about it.

defiantbadgirl -> RE: I Know This Is Silly... (10/20/2006 2:38:16 PM)

There are plenty of guys out there sweet enough to open doors for women. Unfortunately, almost all of them are taken.

naughtygeisha -> RE: I Know This Is Silly... (10/20/2006 2:39:13 PM)

my oldest son who is well not a teenager anymore [:(] still calls women who he doesn't know by Ma'am or Miss, he opens doors and lord help him if he shows disrespect to any woman, and he even says please and thank you, "sighs" politeness is not quite dead at least not for a few people. i mean come on the world is crazy enough out there but that one simple gesture of respect or kindness gives Us/us all hope "sits back and finishes watching "It's a Wonderful Life".."Seriously i think it's great that some men still show that respect it has nothing to do with Dom or sub behaviour it's common courtesy .

<applauds>  Me tooooooooo!!!  I love it when someone holds a door for me, but I also hold the door for others.  Seems to me if someone is on your heels, it's just the polite thing to do.........be they male or female, young or old...<shrugs>
