tvguy -> Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 1:32:30 PM)

Hello all! First about me. I'm a 23 year-old recently single male who is very curious about the lifestyle. My ex of 5 years was NOT into BDSM at all, so unfortunately I haven't gotten to experience it first-hand, but I have been to S&M bars/clubs and seen it a few times. I am very intrigued and curious, but haven't had the chance to explore. Now here's the other part. I hope to be welcomed here but am not quite sure how I will be received. Please don't take this the wrong way, as I know that some people have pre-conceived notions about my show. I am an Associate Producer for The Jerry Springer Show and I am looking for some individuals/groups to come on my show and tell their story! We are in production of the 14th season of the show and we're looking for new, interesting topics. Whether you would like to promote your lifestyle, get you story/face out there, or something else (ideas?), I would love to speak with you. Contact me for more info. Thanks! Jesse

Hmm, I didn't think Jerry Springer was still on the air. Hasn't a story been done before about S&M? Like, "my 13 year old daughter is a dominatrix"? You are welcome here if you truly are curious and want to learn but we tend to be private people.

suberic -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 2:10:04 PM)

Well, it would depend entirely on which show you are a producer for. If Geraldo or Jerry Springer, forget it. If it was Oprah, It may be considered more seriously.

But, yes, if you are here and really and truly curious or want to discuss things, yeah, I think that you would be welcome.

sub4hire -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 2:13:46 PM)

It seem's to me if you are serious about the lifestyle you are trying to get into. Learn more about. Why would you want it on a show that the entire nation consider's a big joke?

Trailer trash BDSM? Has quite the ring to it doesn't it? We are trying hard to get away from being percieved in a bad way. Who in their right mind would want to appear?

The fact that this poster is a Jerry Springer show producer reminds me of an amusing incident that happened about five years ago.

I was doing some work at a hotel, (i used to train hotel employees on new software) and was doing support on the overnight shift. Forgetting how it came up, i'd mentioned that your life has surely taken a wrong turn when the Jerry Springer show asks you to come on.

As luck would have it, the woman i was working with mentioned to me that she, in fact, had been on the Springer show at one point. Needless to say, it was pretty quiet for the rest of the night.

Additionally, one time i was staying in Chicago in an area called Lincoln Park...as luck would have it, it was the same hotel where Springer used to put up their guests. The hallways were rather an interesting watch that night, that's all i'll say regarding that.

Let me guess -- the part you're not telling us is that you'll also have on some Fundamentalist Christian or or other self-righteous kooks like John Ashcroft so you can have some good clean yelling and screaming.

Who gets to throw the first chair?

I have a better idea. Instead of trying to recruit one of us, why don't you take the time to really get some experience and then you can go on the show yourself. I'll bet you'd look real cute dressed up like Mr. Slave on South Park, and being led in on a leash by your Mistress or Master.

The truly ill part here is he will recruit one of us. Not a sane one either. The lifestyle will come off so bad it will throw us back 30 year's.

perverseangelic -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 3:58:33 PM)

I read somewhere that a lot of people on the show are paid to be....well...over the top, and are in fact totally unlike the people they portray. Probably am wrong, but I like to think the best of people :)

sub4hire -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 4:05:25 PM)

I'm sure they get..the typical wage. I've been an extra in shows in the past. You're very well paid for the service you perform. Usually several hundred for basically nothing.

I know the shows like peoples court and such pay the people who come on there as well. Just the basic wage though. Hundreds..not thousands but it is in the hundreds.

Regardless of whether they are paid or not. They will portray the lifestyle in a very bad light.

Atavist -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 5:09:40 PM)

As other said, your welcome here, but you'll get an earfull of direct feedback.

Shows like yours (assuming your for real) are an incredibly sad commentary on the state of media and our society in general. You pander to the absolute lowest instincts in humanity, you deceive and mislead people by baiting them with lines like "Whether you would like to promote your lifestyle.. blah blah... I would love to speak with you". Uhuh. Ever sell used cars? You can't honestly believe you contribute anything remotely positive to your viewers. Yeah, they dig the show. Some people dig traffic accidents.

No doubt some masochist, or lost soul will take the bait and groove on the limo, the spotlight, their 15 minutes of infamy and Jerry will have killer ratings while you do what you usually do - distort, degrade and sensationalize.

If I were CM I'd explicitly demand that their good name be kept off any show assoicated with Jerry Springer.

suberic -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 5:35:30 PM)

Hmmmm, missed that about him being a Springer Producer. I though he said that it was a show nothing like JS. Oops.

I wouldn't be on that show for ten million dollars. Definately not for "bring them in a limo, send them away in a taxi."

I feel sorry for whomever you hoodwink into being on the show. You'll have to let us know when you air the show so we can watch.

dixiedumpling -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/26/2005 5:50:25 PM)

Several years ago there was a Phil Donahue show on spanking. There was a caller who talked about his desire to be spanked. Instead of treating him with respect, Phil made a huge joke about the whole thing. Another fine opportunity to educate the public wasted.

I'll agree with most of that except for the part of "throwing us back 30 years" because I'm not so worried about the impression made on the few weirdos who still watch that show.

However, not only will they get a not so sane representative for the show, they will actually seek out or choose the worst they can get. The intent, of course, is having the most sensational viewing because it is just a freak show. Furthermore, I think the audience is kinda like the one for professional wrestling, and everyone figures that what they're seeing isn't real. And if some audience members do take it seriously, they are probably viewed as crackpots by everyone who knows them so they won't influence any one else's opinions.

ShadeDiva -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/27/2005 12:52:21 AM)

I know a few folks that did the talk show circuit. Springer included.

EVERY last one of them was brought onto the Springer show under false pretenses.

They were told it would be an insightful look into various lifestyles (was different for each gorup of folks) told a different title of the show, basically they were totally set up.

One couple of which the husband has been a crossdresser for decades come on to show that you CAN raise a healthy family as a CD and that it WAS okay and you COULD have a happy marriage. They even brought the ex wife in and the kids.

Turned out that the title which was told to them was something along the lines of how do you live as a CD and make it work - wound up being my dad wears womens clothes and it tramatzed me and I hate it or some shit like that.

Then they seprated the family, and started trying to stage a conflict - tried to coach the sons to say horrid things, to get the ex wife to bitch about it and the wife too in different green rooms. Then Jerry tried to guide the show in that direction with his questions and narrative. He failed with them, but they all said it was a horrible experience and they barely kept their cool.

I've heard the same thing from the other folks that have appeared on his show. I've seen the tapes and it's blatantly obvious what they were doing.

They want drama, and if it isn't there, they will do their damnest to create it or even FAKE it.

It's horrible and does kinky folks a serious disservice.

Jerry and his show are complete frauds and just is looking for more token *christians* to feed to the audience *loins* for their arena-vision.

All I gotta say about it. <shrug>

MadameDahlia -> RE: Wanna be on TV? (1/27/2005 1:51:01 AM)

In my head I'm hearing all of the same thoughts many here are having. And I have absolutely no doubt that what ShadeDiva has said is true. I've seen the show and I've often wondered why no one in the audience bothers to ask the important questions or make the important observations. When someone has something halfway decent to say the audience usually starts chanting the name of a far less dramatic talk show host.

However I will reserve judgment and wait to see if tvguy answers any of the various replies he has received from the masses here at CollarMe. I'd be quite interested to read what he has to say in response.

Does anyone really believe that tvguy is with the Jerry Springer show and this is how they recruit guests?[:'(] Why isn't he replying to the posts and defending the show?

He very well could be from the show. They have tried to recruit victims from usenet and mailing lists before. It's not all that much of a surprise to see them here.

According to the other side of the site, he hasn't logged in today. That might have something to do with the lack of replies.

i once got to be an extra on a car commercial... we all wandered around, staring at the "red flags of value" falling from the sky. i don't know what was better, the eight bucks an hour or the getting to be immortalized wandering around with my mouth hanging open. [:D]
