I would have to say my favorite sitcom of all time is Good Times..it had a special way of sending a positive message along with making you laugh your ass off...Showing you that no matter where you come from, with a strong foundation you can make it....[:)]

though i never saw any of these in their first run, i love Carol O'Connor in All in the Family... it still seems relevent and is funny... it got a message across without being preachy

Krissi - None of the above

I'm gonna pick '' The Night Stalker'' with Darren McGavin - It had ''X-Files'' stature as a cult classic.

I loved the Mary Tyler Moore Show.  Used to watch it as a teenager and I enjoyed seeing an independent career woman making it on her own.  I think Mary had a special charm, too, that made her very likable, and it was pretty funny as well.

Too young to remember any of them [:D]

It was actually a toss up for me between All in the Family and Welcome Back Kotter. Since I could only choose one, I took All in the Family.

"Barney Miller". Although most of the country thought it was a comedy, it really was a documentary regarding the state of NYC at the time.

LOL my dad loved this show. I never could get into it myself, though I did like the spinoff that came from it ; Fish

I thought he was hilarious.

I don't remember that as being funny, so I think that was more of a monster drama than a sitcom.

I don't remember too many sitcoms of the '70s; Ias a amtter of fact I don't remember much to laugh at in the '70s . . . the '60s seemed to have better ones:

Bewitched
Mr. Ed
The Munsters
The Beverly Hillbillies

I suppose it is silly to debate the relative merits of 60s vs 70s sitcoms, but what else are we to do in the random stupidity section?

Kalira -> RE: Favorite Sitcom Of The 70s? (10/20/2006 7:01:23 AM)

LOL I still watch the Beverly Hillbillies. My teenager has even developed a liking for them. She thinks Granny is the greatest lol.

ShreveportMaster -> RE: Favorite Sitcom Of The 70s? (10/20/2006 7:08:05 AM)

I think the 60's had the best sitcoms, classics such as The Dick Van Dyke show, Beverly Hillbillies, The Addams Family, etc. But the 70's had some good ones too. 3's comapny being My favorite from that era, with all in the family and it's spin off The Jefferson's being a close second. and let us not forget The Dukes of Hazzard.

ellecid -> RE: Favorite Sitcom Of The 70s? (10/20/2006 7:15:14 AM)

I dunno... Maude was MY favorite.... I guess I gotta thang for Bea Arthur

windchymes -> RE: Favorite Sitcom Of The 70s? (10/20/2006 7:17:21 AM)

I can't believe your list didn't include MASH!   Only THE greatest sitcom of all time! (IMO)

All in the Family was awesome, too.  Welcome Back Kotter.....we thought the sweathogs were the most hiarious thing and we all wanted to be them.  When I had kids and they started playing the reruns, I made my kids sit down and watch it, cause its freaking hysterical!!!  For some reason, the humor seemed so much more lame 20 years later....my kids kept looking at me like I was an idiot.

Kalira -> RE: Favorite Sitcom Of The 70s? (10/20/2006 7:17:47 AM)

What was the one with the waitress?

Alice?

That was always pretty good too.

Another favorite of mine is Mama's Family. I just adore that show.

Night Stalker  -Darren McGavin's  Reporter Kolchak was very  humorous  he was the show not the monsters.

I would agree. Though it was supposed to come off more as a drama, he managed to keep it humorous.

If you get Hallmark Channel, it's on from 5-7 every day, 4 episodes.  It's like being reunited with old friends [:)]
