I would have to say my favorite sitcom of all time is Good Times..it had a special way of sending a positive message along with making you laugh your ass off...Showing you that no matter where you come from, with a strong foundation you can make it....[:)]

though i never saw any of these in their first run, i love Carol O'Connor in All in the Family... it still seems relevent and is funny... it got a message across without being preachy

I loved the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Used to watch it as a teenager and I enjoyed seeing an independent career woman making it on her own. I think Mary had a special charm, too, that made her very likable, and it was pretty funny as well. Lady Topaz

It was actually a toss up for me between All in the Family and Welcome Back Kotter. Since I could only choose one, I took All in the Family.

"Barney Miller". Although most of the country thought it was a comedy, it really was a documentary regarding the state of NYC at the time.

LOL I still watch the Beverly Hillbillies. My teenager has even developed a liking for them. She thinks Granny is the greatest lol.

I think the 60's had the best sitcoms, classics such as The Dick Van Dyke show, Beverly Hillbillies, The Addams Family, etc. But the 70's had some good ones too. 3's comapny being My favorite from that era, with all in the family and it's spin off The Jefferson's being a close second. and let us not forget The Dukes of Hazzard.

I can't believe your list didn't include MASH! Only THE greatest sitcom of all time! (IMO) All in the Family was awesome, too. Welcome Back Kotter.....we thought the sweathogs were the most hiarious thing and we all wanted to be them. When I had kids and they started playing the reruns, I made my kids sit down and watch it, cause its freaking hysterical!!! For some reason, the humor seemed so much more lame 20 years later....my kids kept looking at me like I was an idiot.

What was the one with the waitress? Alice? That was always pretty good too. Another favorite of mine is Mama's Family. I just adore that show.
