The one that seems to get me the most curious is when I see somone going out of there way for their significant other without any reaction from either of them. Now see I would see that and view it from my own perspective, something like this.

Couple sitting in restaurant. Man patting pockets grumbling and muttering. Woman gets up without a word with eyebrow raised, grabs keys off table, goes out to car and gets man's glasses, sets them on table in front of him, sits back down and picks up her menu.

Now if I were that woman the whole thing would have been like this, I knew immediately what the dingbat man had forgotten and where it was and I was pissy cuz he does it all the time and it is just wayyyyyyyyyyy easier to get it myself rather than explain to him where he left it and listen to more bitching and grumbling as grabbed the keys, stomped out to the car, slammed a few doors, stomped back in and flung his grumpy ass back into the chair with a few more mutters and grumbles.[:D]

LOL! Reminds me of my sister and her husband, happens just like that at times too!

ok, i'm not trying to be obtuse, i promise!   but this happens alla time, with a lot of couples over 40.  He hates to admit in public He even needs glasses.  Once i started to see Him holding the menu "over there" i started just reading it for Him.  Not in any overt way,  but usually i lay my menu down and pull off.. "Oh, i'm thinking chicken montery  (while pointing to it on menu)   or maybe this pasta, looks good? (pointing at picture)  i know what He likes and doesn't, all He really needs is clues to where the stuff is on the menu or what the exact names of the dishes are.  Since He's dyslexic His auditory memory is excellent, and i can rattle off nearly everything and He'll remember what's there and can quote it all back verbatim.  It's hard to describe here, but W/we've just got a system where nobody has to know He's got aging eyes and it all looks just like we're discussing what to eat.   Which, really, W/we are.

Of course, that's not the random stuff that comes up as mentioned earlier, but still..  when people are in tune, they spot a ruffle and move swiftly to smooth it over for each other.  While i'm rummaging thru purse looking for my lighter, He will disappear and return with matches from the hostess stand.  Maybe it's just the familiarity that hasn't bred contempt yet, or maybe.. it's ... love?

It's obviously a D/S relationship, and he's the dominant.  This was true of many traditional vanilla relationships between men and women in our society, to be honest, which is why "1950's household" and "Victorian household" are now Official BDSM Kinks listed here on Collarme.

As to whether the relationship is formalized and self-acknowledged as a "lifestyle"?  Probably not.  The majority of early relationships in the lives of any dominant or submissive are usually not formal D/S relationships--certainly my first relationship was D/S, but I wouldn't have known to call it that and might actually have rebelled against calling it that.
