sissifytoserve -> "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 2:38:03 PM)

And now...a word from Henry Rollins.

People my age know who he is.

"Freedom is under attack"

Lordandmaster -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 2:49:23 PM)

Well...

He's right.

sissifytoserve -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 3:09:14 PM)

I think some Bush lovers here would disagree with you.

sissifytoserve -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 3:17:37 PM)

Now I remember why he is so pissed.

He was "suspected of terrorism" by reading the wrong book on an international flight.

The Smiths - easily the best band of the 80s. He's right as well - what democracy?

Anyway, hasn't Bush just signed a document on detention without trial? Now that is what I call evidence staring people in the face. That's taking your eyes out and coming back for the holes.

sissifytoserve -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 3:32:07 PM)

Yes..the government loves targetting artists, musicians, social critics...or ANY opposition to the status quo.

The legislation you are speaking of is HR: 6166

NorthernGent -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 3:44:43 PM)

sissify, we have the same here. Galloway is the perfect example. He can't get any press or airwaves for love nor money. The only time he gets a look in is when one of murdoch's stations tries to set him up with a series of loaded questions. Apart from that, he and other dissenting voices are completely marginalised.

To be honest though, I still think that wider society is to blame at least as much as the government. Getting down to the nitty gritty, not enough people care and that's why they're getting away with it i.e. a lack of public pressure.

Agreed,

They are too busy with watching American Idol, (violence and torture lovin') CSI, obsessed with cop shows, or sports.

It's called "bread and circuses."

Or in Roman Times...the colliseum.

Keep people busy and quiet...and "back on the farm with the other animals."

popeye1250 -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 4:31:04 PM)

Hmmm, a dilemna. I agree with you but I also agree that if they have a known al qeada operative that they should be able to break every single bone in his body with a 6 pound ball peen hammer.
And that's AFTER the butt-pyramids!

You mean Al- CIA-da?

the same guys we trained to fight the russians.

Hmmmm...makes you wonder WHO the real "terrorists" are.

Bush laden productions?

KatyLied -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 6:18:19 PM)

Henry Rollins, I wanna touch him.  (if he gets rid of those tats).

sissifytoserve -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 6:25:41 PM)

Henry wouldn't be henry without his tatoo's IMHO.

They are a record of his life.

My favorite Rollins tune.

Oh, I know, the tats gotta stay.  I'm just not into heavy tats.

Yeah.  Maybe the guy who convinced Monkeyboy that Iraq had WMDs is the one who squealed on the "known al qaeda operative."

Did you ever stop to think that we have due process laws in this country for a reason, popeye1250?

What if they find out he is not actually a "known al qaeda operative?"

Give him an apology, a grease down, and a shiatsu and send him on his way?

Just me, etc.

Sinergy

The observant and politically astute John Lennon sang these words 35 years ago:

"... Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV,
and you think you're so clever and classless and free.
But you're still fucking peasants, as far as I can see."

Things haven't changed much, have they? ... [:(]

sissifytoserve -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 11:14:15 PM)

"A working Class Hero is something to be"

Always loved that song.

No..tthings have changed actually.....I'm positive the truth about A LOT of things are coming out....and much more to come.

We should congratulate ourselves.

Don't despair.

This is very much in our favor.

There's always going to bepeople who will "stay asleep"

Their personas EDIT out haarsh realities...because theeir egos always want to see the sunshine...
even if it isn't the truth.

I'm glad you think so. As for myself, I'm not about to bet the house on it just yet.

But please, tell us why you believe this.

sissifytoserve -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 11:38:43 PM)

Because I haven't seen people this mad or fed up with politicians and behavior
of corporations since I can remember...and I think its going to explode.

Its going to reach critical mass.

Lordandmaster -> RE: "Freedom is under attack" (10/20/2006 11:57:28 PM)

I felt more or less the same way in 2004 ... and my fellow Americans promptly went out and re-elected George W. Bush and most of his Republican cronies in Congress.

So I'll believes it when I sees it.
