As Americans look to outsourceing their prisons the English look to house their prisioners on Ships.   Which system is better?

Prison ships already exist. I tend to think if you need to increase the prison population you pay whatever is required. The law should never be dependant on the ability of the prison system to cope with the prison population. Some people say look at the causes of crime and solve the problems there. I think people have to see that justice is being done and when you make excuses for people that commit crime there is a perception that justice isn’t being done and that only people that follow the law suffer.

I’m unsure of what outsourcing of prison services means does it mean you lock people up in Cuba?

I recognize they exist in England and have absolutely no problem with it.   By outsourceing in the USA, we take and hire private companies to build and operate prisons for us on contract.  Personally I generally disapprove of outsourcing government jobs.   they find ways around their contracts to gain extra capital.   I have had some experience in that.

Neither....

I'd like to see us move to a system similar to what Singapore has. Corporal punishment and other creative means of punishment, where we don't have to house them and subject ourselves to the cost of horrendously overpaid middle / upper management bureaucrats.

I'd start by reducing many of the petty-ass drug crimes to NO crimes. Same thing with a lot of the driving crimes. America was a hellva lot better off when the cops used give the drunks a ride home instead of issuing them tickets and taking them to jail.

Probably the smartest thing we could do that would save ourselves the most money, is to reduce congresses time in session to only three months out of the year.

I think we should just save everybody a lot of wasted time & effort and just put the excess criminals into Congress/Parliament/Assembly/etc.
