Damn man, you put your money down and got what you paid for. Nothing more need be said.

Arpig -> RE: Is this behaviour common among ProDommes? (10/24/2006 8:44:50 AM)

How common is this among "serious" Pros?   Well hopefully very common, assuming they want to stay in business. Come off it dude, when was the last time you heard a bartender remind you that you can get drunker for less if you buy it at a liquor store and take it home?

Raye -> RE: Is this behaviour common among ProDommes? (10/24/2006 8:53:37 AM)

edited after consideration. no sense just saying whats been said, save one point.  My clients for BDSM, massage, and non sexual escort(yes,Virginia,it does happen) are not elderly, nor disabled, though that likely wouldnt be an issue, its not the norm for my lads. Not ever.
I do not accept under 25 years old  though, for my own reasons.

I hope its not common behavior.
I Myself am more than happy to direct someone to a better fit.
No sense hanging onto a toy you can never play with.

TheaZ, I didn't do any research on the internet beforehand (I only found out about hobbyist sites and what a PSE was afterwards) I just went through the yellow pages, picked an ad and made a call. When you look at the sheer size of the vanilla sex industry, compared to the size of the professional domination scene, trying to find what I was looking for when you've never even heard of a Mistress is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I think lots of people in the scene don't really realize how much of a fringe thing BDSM is (It'd be hard to if it's a big thing in your life). Also I definitely didn't tell her that her abilities sucked or anything (that would be just plain rude and she was actually quite technically skilled at bondage) I kept my opinions to myself, she just didn't have the ability to put a lot of authority in her voice (remember back to school how some teachers never even needed to raise their voice and everyone obeyed them without them ever needing to hand out punishments, and others couldn't make people obey them no matter what?).

Well I seem to have found the answer to my question. ProDommes have replied and said that they would still try and direct a client to the nonpro scene, even if they don't think they have a moral obligation to. Their clients have also replied verifying this. And for all the ProDomme bashing on this forum, not one Sub has replied with a story like mine. All in it's reassuring that most serious pros don't seem to be like this.

Thanks,

Indeed - IMO, many ProDommes would refer you, at the least, to TES or to stop by Purple Passion and check out the community listings. I have many times given links, phone numbers or e-mail assistance to those 'clients' I felt just didn't belong in the professional realm. However, as many of us have remarked, this Pro may not have been hooked into the 'Lifestyle' scene enough to recommend resources beyond dungeon parties or the like, (aimed more toward 'session' afficionados.)

You are correct that BDSM has been a big enough part of Me and part of My life for Me not to see how fringe it may be to someone still on the outside, but part of My confusion was the ads and vanilla marketing: when even Craig's List, Cityvibe, Eros and the like list activities like 'BDSM, Domination, Fetishes'...to go so far as to even list activities like golden showers, foot fetish, spanking, and strap-on...I would personally think this sets the wheels turning.

In any case, it sounds like this all did work out for the best. You experimented and found your way toward a better fit for yourself. Welcome to the NY Community - play hard, play often, play safe.

Have you stopped by Kinematics yet? *laughs*

Best,

Thea

could be that she was primarily involved in the prodomme scene and circles and really didn't have much knowledge or access to the non-pro community.  that is a real possibility.  i'm not so quick to judge her as purely trying to keep you as a client.
