I just updated my profile to reflect my new age status. EEEEEEEEEEEK!!! How'd I get to be so old? I don't FEEL middle aged, but here I am. Inside me is a small child (alright, so maybe I've never REALLY been small) looking out through my eyes at the mirror wondering what the H E double toothpicks happened. When I was in my 20's the time just strolled by. I felt like I'd never be 30! GASP!!! Then 30 got here and the time speeded up to a fast walk. Now it's racing downhill.

Anybody else out there fearing the march of time?

Damn you for reminding me. I hate to tell you this, but you are merely at the edge of the age precipice -- I fell over it about 1 month ago, and I simply haven't been able to accept it enough to go to my profile and add one to my stated age there. And yeah, I know, somebody 10 years or more older will tell me this ain't nuthin'.

The only consolation is that I once met a woman in her 20's who said that ever since she was a child her nickname was "grandmother" because she acted so old. So as they say, age is a state of mind, so maybe I'll go edit my profile age to reflect my level of immaturity. It might also help to hang out with older folks so we feel like the kids.

I'll be 30 in 2 years, but still enjoy the mindset of a 18 year old with 10 years experience !

You are only as old as you feel, and try to not look !

I can't really say that I fear it as much as I can't seem to figure out how I got this old so fast. The weirdest part for me is working with people where I'm older than their parents. But on the upside everyone still tells me I don't look my age so I guess thats a plus.

I have found that typically, one gets to be so old by not dying.

i cannot say i am middle aged yet, but i do feel old every day because i have gone back to school and everyone in my classes (besides me) is an 18 year old "kid". The prof was discussing Johnny Carson's death, and NONE OF THEM KNEW WHO HE WAS.

So it's like i have a preview of what middle age may feel like...

Real age- 45, what I feel like inside most of the time -16.

I deffinatly can feel the speed of age in some joints too, like proud ~wink

Well, I will be 41 this year? Is that old? As long as I live to be 82, it is middle aged. Do I look 41? Definately not. Recently relocated to Florida from NJ (where pictures licenses are still not required), and several bars gave me a hassle about getting in! Currently in the process of developing something (hopefully something good) with a 27 year old! I say I am in the prime of my life, and I intend to enjoy it while I am still YOUNG!

I'm 42 now and am in the prime of my life!! I don't feel middle-aged at all. I'm just now getting a newfound freedom (the kid is less maintenance). Life is good.

At the ripe old age of 46, I don't notice anything except for some creaking joints that I've had since my 20's (after a parachute mishap).

In fact, in many ways, I appreciate myself more today than I ever have.

In most aspects i feel a lot better now than i did when i was younger...i may not look nearly as good, but i feel more secure in my own skin than i ever have before....the sense of freedom has been divine...but i do wonder a lot, what the hell? wasn't i turning 14 just yesterday? dying to reach my 18th birthday? how did i get to be 31 so damn fast! and yes, i do feel old when i am around the young ones....the counselors thast work in my son's elemenary school are all in their 18 and 19, and early 20's, they call me Ma'am, treat me like such an old fart, meanwhile i am thinking we are in the same age group...not quite! lol and yes, Carson's passing also made me realize how old i am, seeing all the clips of those really old shows, and remembering seeing it live lol....i have to admit i do fear age, but hey, better getting old than not getting there at all!

I believe my age status is probalby off as well. Not necessarily because I want it to be but because I honestly don't keep track of my age. The last birthday I really celebrated I turned 16. There wasn't anything I could do at 18 that I wasn't already doing at 16. There wasn't anything I could do at 21 that I could'nt already do at 16 either.
As I age I do have more aches and pains. However, I knew at 16 I wasn't going to age well. I played hard as a child. Different teams when I could. I knew I would have foot problems which I do. Knee problems I had no vision of. However, with the right workout routine they have but diminished.
So, growing older I don't see it as being a bad thing at all. The one good thing I have'nt heard in ten year's is "you're wiser beyond your year's" I think I've finally caught up with myself. Which is a very good thing.
Being older I have the money to do the things others just dream about. I'm beginning to have a little spare time instead of working my butt to death. I can really start living life.

I agree with this. I had a really hard time turning 40 but I love the fact that noone ever beleives me what I tell them that I am 40. So, just as long as I don't look my age and I keep feeling young at hard and I don't have limitations I will be alright.

I feel compelled to lend a voice to a contrary view. Getting older sucks! I'm sorry, but I'm 51 years old and, if you ask me, getting older sucks in a big way! It just does! It sucks LESS if you eat right, exercise regularly and in moderation, have taken care throughout your life to maintain good friendships, have a job that rewards the time you give it, not too many of your older relatives happen to die in any one year and blahdy blahdy bhlah, but the presently inescapable fact is, among other things: you're closer to being dead today than you were yesterday, this culture doesn't place a lot of value on its elders and a lot of your skin is going to start drooping. You can fight it (I mean, duh: does anybody not know THAT), but it really does suck and I wonder all the time how I got this old.

Alternatively, I give myself permission to not take stuff SO seriously anymore and I've learned some lessons so well I don't find myself repeating some of the old mistakes. I make new ones, instead!

i turned 35 exactly one month ago

, and the years between 30 and now have just whizzed by. There are times when i feel tired or a little disgruntled with the world when i feel my actual age and older! However usually i have the heart and mindset of a person much younger. i attended a 20th birhtday party recently, with my 15 year old daughter, (i was the eldest one there!!!) to my delight, the "young ones" couldnt believe she was my daughter, they told me that i dont look my age, and the majority thought i was about 28.

Upon hearing that, i drank up and partied on with the young'uns, it was something to celebrate!

I don't fear the march of time. What i've noticed most is my attitude changing. Gray hair in beards is now sexy. Pot bellies are soft pillows.

Why fear time anyway? There are still so many things to explore....new things to learn and do....and oh so sexy Dominants my own age.

Great attitude!!

I also freaked when I turned 40. A friend said to me at the time that decade b-days are hard when you feel that you're not where you thought you would be. That's how I felt. But now I have 2 years 'til 50 and I know I won't have the same crisis. My attitude has completely changed; I've accepted the me that I am :)
