Years ago, as a sub I met my Domme's family since we lived very close by them. I served her as I would in private meaning filling her water glass, making her dinner plate, cleaning ashtrays, taking her shoes off, etc. The only comment I got from her Mom was, "You'll be sorry for spoiling her, one day" to which I responded, "I like spoiling her," with a smile.
D/s can be effective in a public setting as well. Opening doors, lighting cigarettes, walking behind, etc. I think the only ones who really take notice are the leather folks who may be among us at the time. Most vanillas have no clue when they see us in a public setting; I would guess because they have their own convoluted fantasies of what happens behind closed doors and can't see us as human beings first. Besides, most people today are too much in a hurry and self-absorbed to notice what others do unless it has a direct bearing on their own agenda.
