No, I am young and I do not have a compromised immune system, so I feel it is more dangerous to get injections with vaccines to non-life-threatening illnesses than it is to actually get the disease.

I do not take things I do not need

The worst bout of the flu I ever got was the one year I got a flu shot.
No.  I won't be getting it.  Neither will my kids.

edited to add that I don't see me ever giving it to them.

Nope....

Don't want that "delicious" squalene, toxic metals, cancer viruses, et al...in MY bloodstream.

No thanks.

Secondly,

Why take a "Vaccine" that won't even protect you from the TYPE of flu that is going around?

I buy one every year, because my immune system is compromised. If I do not, I get three to five life threatening bouts of severe flu per year, each accompanied by or followed immediately by herpes virus manifestations.

When I get my flu shot, I either do not get the flu, or if I get it, it usually is less severe - what I call a minor 'cold'.

Minor cold: blow nose 800 times
Cold: blow nose 1300 times
Flu: blow nose 3000 times.

Healthy, young people should never have themselves vaccinated.

The Military Typhoid shot I was forced to take back in 1997 almost killed me.

If no one had been home down the hall from me the day i had the shot..i would have died.

(I know some people here at collar me would have loved that).

I spent two days in the hospital thanks to that one.

I made damn sure that was in my service record.

Yes I get one every year at the V.A. Hospital.
They're free so why not?

Nope, have never had one and don't intend to ever get one. My daughter in law got one... a couple of days later my daughter took her to the hospital because her arm was bruised from elbow to shoulder. Turns out it gave her a staff infection.

Pretty much feel the same way Julia, Aileen and Sissify. I wouldn't matter if the mainstream news announced they were experiencing an epidemic this year and Wal-Mart was offering Flu shots for free with ''no line'' - I'll take a pass and let my healthy immune system deal with it.

Never have, never will. i use a homeopathic remedy called Oscillococcinum. Take 1 tube under the tongue every 6 hours for 3 doses. Shorthens the length and reduces the severity of symptoms of flu. Amazing stuff!!

Never had one, most likely never will.   I have issues with taking meds in any form.  I don't believe pharmaceutical companies, i don't buy into their make a pill to help a person, then charge so much that the person can't afford it and their insurance company won't pay for it either.    Gadz!  i could go on.  I will stop here.  Bottom line...no, i won't be getting the flu shot.

I'm going to buck the trend here and state that I do get one faithfully.  I am a  nurse serving a special needs population which has a very high rate of flu outbreaks due to their medical fragility.  Every year that I did not get one I did contract the flu.  The last time (over 10 years ago) that I did get the flu I developed pneumonia as a complication.  Given what I do and where I do it and my history with severe respiratory infections in childhood I consider any potential risks from taking the immunization much less than contracting the flu and suffering the inevitable complications.

Same here.

I agree with Julia's response, also.  There's no need to take it in my case.

Quite. All health workers and those who work with the elderly should get a vaccination, even if the flu does not disable them, because when infected they otherwise will act as a vector and may infect the already weakened people they care for.

For a young, healthy person it indeed is better not to be vaccinated, as vaccination will disable the very important cellular immune response, perhaps permanently.

I do not know about the combination of diabetes in the young and healthy and the flu, though. What is your experience? If you never or rarely suffer from the flu, you do not need a vaccination. If you have, as a consequence of being diabetic, suffered from life threatening, severe flu, then it may be wise to do get a vaccination. It is your body and life; it is your decision.

Today I heard on the news that Israel stopped flu vaccination because four people died from cardiac arrest after the vaccination. That vaccin was produced in France.
