I do not know but certainly cannot claim independence but the latest round of Republican scandals have come out and it appears that the excuse they are now using is not so much that the people that are accused are innocent, but the fact that the trouble is coming out just before the election and therefore it is the Dems up to something sinister because of the timing. My question is, isn't wrong is wrong and how in the hell should I judge people who bring this to our attention as worse then the people committing the acts and trying to hide them? Is it just me but that is some serious bad logic.

They've actually used several "excuses", all lame, including the one you pointed out. Sinking rats do what rats do best.

And in times of Democratic scandals, especially right before an election, the Democrats use the same lame excuses. Both parties have the same playbook, only the Republicans have theirs printed on the right side of each page and the Democrats have theirs printed on the left side LOL

The desire to win thereby staying power is the only end. Truth 2.0 is the means. Politics has become a game of constant campaigning instead of a vocation to administrate effectively.

But maybe because of my age it makes me furious because for eight years I saw the Republicans go after Clinton with everything and anything but now when they hold all three branches they complain when the Democrats return the favor it drives me insane. I guess I just do not have the perspective of the pendulum swinging enough.

toservez, Your grandfather isn't old enough to have seen when the pendulum wasn't swinging in this political attack environment - his advantage was that is didn't quite swing as far in each direction. Don't feel bad, you are very insightful, you will do well no matter which political party is running the country.

Isn't it supposed to be a "sacrifice" to go to Washington and "represent the people?" And we have people in Washington now for decades "sacrificing". And somehow it's "Legal" for the Lobbyists on "K" street to be "contributing" billions of dollars to political campaigns-providing that those people who are the beneficiaries of those funds "vote" the "right way" on issues that the Lobbyists are in favor of. Didn't we used to call that process "Corruption?"

They have had 8 years to study Republican tactics :) The part that bothers me most is down playing it.. as being "overly friendly emails". That's like saying Mar Karr was just a fan of little girl's beauty pageants. Makes me wonder if they are going to pull out the "I had abusive potty training" now that the "I was molested by a priest" excuse didn't fly and get sympathy.

I wonder if the Republicans would be happy if the journalists breaking these stories all apologized and blamed their alcoholism for doing the reporting. Then it wouldn't be a political conspiracy any more.

You did not hear them scream "He lies, he should be impeached! It is WRONG for a US President to LIE to Americans" when Monkeyboy's lies were repeatedly exposed. Under the Clinton administration, the Republican Congress filed over 1000 subpeonas and Congressional investigations to investigate Clinton and his cronies at a combined cost of something outrageous like $52M to the US taxpayer. Under the Monkeyboy administration, the Republican Congress has filed exactly 0. They probably believe they are being fiscally responsible. Just me, could be wrong, but there you go. Sinergy p.s. Though Nancy Pelosi said she'd made sure they would get to add amendments to bills, which the Republicans had not been allowing them to do, and she was adamant about no impeachment talk. Good for her, I have no desire to slip back into the muck.

I love this joke... If "pro" is the opposite of "con," then whats the opposite of "Progress?" (Congress) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I love America.... where a dead man can be elected over 4 other people to fill a seat in Congress in a small town out in Oregon; where if I want to keep my children (if I had any,) away from violence nd sex in the news, I'd have to put a parental lock on CNN, and CSPAN; where a presidential nominee (GW) can talk about bringing morals back to the White House, knowing in his own past, he had a mistress his entire time in Congress; where the price of condoms is higher than the price of a six pack of beer; where the separation of church and state is actually divided by someone's head on a dollar bill....

Republican or Democrat, each side spins their version of the truth to fit there needs, cherry pick the information to fit their goals.....But I ask you this question: How may people died when Clinton lied? 2796 (by Oct 23) American soldiers and estimated 44-49,000 Iraq civilians are dead due to King George lying.

They are politicians, ergo they are lying scumbags. To my mind the mere desire to run for political office ought to disqualify one from doing so. Hell, we'd probably get better people if we just picked a random number between 1 and 100 (say 32), and waited for the 32nd person to walk around the corner of Main & 2nd...Congratulations, you've been selected as the new Congressman (MP, Senator, whatever) Mr.....what is your name?
