blendedaffection -> what is a switch (10/23/2006 3:59:11 PM)

I had accidentally selected switch in my profile and had not just a few ask me about it in the chatrooms. So my question is what is a switch? Forgive my ignorance, I just don't have a clue obviously.

nakedbeaver -> RE: what is a switch (10/23/2006 4:10:14 PM)

Well, as you have probably learned already, everyone has their own definition for what things are.  To me, a switch is someone that has the desire to do both the Dom/Master/Domina/Top roles and the bottom/sub/slave roles.  Sometimes with the same person, another switch, or sometimes in respective roles as a sub/slave/bottom to one, and a Top/Dom/Domina/Master to another.

My definition is about the same as nakedbeaver described.  I would add that sometimes a person may switch in the midst of  a scene, particularly if two switches are playing together.  I have also enjoyed scenes where my Master was guiding as I took a top role with another sub.  In that instance there was a Top/bottom dynamic between me and the sub, but a Dominant/submissive dynamic between the sub and my Master and my Master and I.  There can be many layers to such things.  You may want to search past postings for other ideas.

My thanks to you both and I asked a question before I browsed the other postings which also gave me a clearer view. Thank you again.

A switch is a stick cut off a williow tree. It is used to disipline people who ask to many questions.

Well, then I guess I'll need a switch because I ask a LOT of questions. No disrespect intended to anyone I am simply in a learning phase and that is how I learn.

Edited because I posted under the wrong account.

Never apologize for asking to many questions. How else will you learn.

My husband and I are switches. There are days when he feels Dominant, and then there are other times where he just doesn't feel like being in control, so I take over.

We went to a coin shop and purchased a silver dollar piece to flip when we both feel Dominant.... or we wrestle.

I was just kidding.  Always ask questions. Just not "are we there yet"

"HEY! Are we there yet!?!?!"

I'm sorry but it was simply too good to pass up.  Just call it my bratty self coming out to play...  As for there being such a thing as switches yes there are.  Although we sometimes get the reputation of being simply confused by the people who are only one thing or another...  Top, Bottom, Dominant, Submissive, etc...  It's along the same lines of are there really people who are bisexual and myself being both a switch and bisexual I would have to say...  "Hell yes I exist and I am not confused unless I really want to be and I'm not a figment of my own imagination...  Thank you very much...."

"Besides all the black and whites out there can only have one type of fun where we bisexuals and switches can have both sides and make grey..."  *Smiles*

I'm very submissive...but I LOVE to top.  I don't really believe I have a dominant bone in my body...but I can be sadistic as hell to somebody I've got restrained.  I couldn't imagine 'switching' with the same person...but am I  a switch?

Seems to me if I claimed that, I'd get in trouble for that truth in advertising thang...

I'm serious... would any of you consider me a switch?  I just don't FEEL like a switch...    LOL

stef -> RE: what is a switch (11/21/2006 11:59:40 AM)

I wouldn't.  There are plenty of sadistic submissive folk out there.

Funny though...I've had guys get all worried about my submission cuz I like to top.  Apparently a 'true submissive' doesn't top!  LOL    For awhile I had two seperate profiles up...one as me/submissive and another as me/top (NOT dominant!)   It seemed the most accurate; but then I got hassled for having two profiles.  <sigh>

Thanks for passing that on.  I'll have to add that to 'The Twoo Submissive's Handbook' when the next version goes to print.

By who?  Anyone that mattered?  Since the profiles here don't really allow for that kind of diversity in personal description, I hardly see what the problem is in having multiple profiles in those cases.  It's not as though you're trying to deceive anyone.

<smiles broadly>  Well, thanks for your support!  Nope, wasn't trying to deceive a soul.

Good luck on that book...  <grinz>

boundupone -> RE: what is a switch (11/27/2006 7:17:42 AM)

I am a switch but cannot imagine switching mid scene, something i had never considered before.  I prefer that at the start of the scene you know who is going to top and that follows through to the end of scene.  Maybe having two different scenes with the same partner on the same day if we both fancied topping.

I would prefer to find a switch partner but am not holding my breath on that one!
