great question knees~ my personal knee jerk response is, i was born this way. Although like many here, i was born submissive; however, in my day-to-day living, (i do not have a Master and i am a 24/7 single mom), i have to be in control at all times. i have to be the one in control in order to maintain my home life, my family's home life, my job, etc. Even though i control every aspect of my life, i do it as a submissive because i am a submissive (if that makes sense).

The word has two connotations for me It is partially who I am, I am a submissive. I have this tendency and orientation even when I am not with anyone... It is also my role in a relationship. I have chosen this over any other sort of relationship paradigm because it fits my nature. It means I give deference to the dominant in my life. It means I enjoy and feel fulfilled by being guided and directed by my lifepartner. It means that I like to give control over to another in a power exchange.

Hey, Being submissive to me, is like being very real.. i love to please my Master, and He looks out for the best of me... Submission has a very long heritatary line to it... my family where farmers... i was brought up in a yes mam yes sir kind of way... i am definitly a pleaser and go out of my way to make people happy. Having my Master gives me goals and a better means in which to strive for. Not only does my Master look out for our sake, but He look to improve me... submissives have several roles in this world... Being submissive is who I am, it is my life. I could not be anything else. It makes me happy to please another, it fills my heart with great joy to see the smile on His face, knowing that I pleased Him. I need and long for the power exchange, for the mental control, the physical control, and the great amount of trust that requires is profound. I am who i am, and I am most happy serving and pleasing another. ~aurora~

I am slave to my Owner/Master. This is who I am ~ a submissive who has grown to be an owned slave. Why~ because once I found this dynamic and realized who I was and where I fit it Rocked my world. Now with Master it makes me weak at the knees ;) Finding my place has simply enhanced my entire life, it completes me. Owned

Answering vicariously for Angel (hes on the phone with me at the moment) He serves becasue he feels more comfortable when there is someone else making the decisions, and having the final say. He does not have the personality type necessary to take the lead in a relationship, and prefers to be with someone who can mold him to what they want and make them happy. To him submission is doing as I wish, becasue that is what comes naturally for him. My happiness is what is important, and it is not hard for him to ensure it. His only responsability from here forward, since he has ben given his collar, is to make me proud and happy. He does it well, and he knows it, but he is always striving to do better. DV

For me, submission is about strength. Through submission I have learned to accept parts of myself I previously denied because I thought of myself as a "good girl". Having a Master who knew me better than I knew myself allowed me to open up more to new ideas and accept myself for who I am. There was nothing wrong with me before, but I found a new level of strength. I believe a submissive needs to be happy with themself and happy even when alone long before they are ready to be submissive to someone else. If a person becomes a submissive simply because they want someone in their life and will do anything to have it, they will end up with the wrong person. If a person becomes a submissive simply because their life is going no where, they will find out that unless they find this before they get involved, a dominant will not be a cure all for all their problems. Instead, there will be more problems to deal with. A submissive needs to first be happy with who they are, have a fullfulling vanilla life and be strong, stable and self sufficient.

Well my submission means I can trust that person beyond any doubt. It makes me feel good. Feels relieved. I do it because I feel an urge to submit. I do not feel alone. I have had many partners and I have many friends, In and out of the scene. I do not need guidence persay. I would only let a partner direct my career if it was someone I was going to spend the rest of my life with otherwise I will still be in control of that sector of my life. Due to having to do speech therapy I have always had to listen to women and obey their commends. As when I completed my speech work correctly i'd be rewarded and when I misbehaved i'd be punished. I'm actually seeing a consuller as I have problems during sex as I only focus on the ladies pleasure not mine which sounds good in theory for women but when your partner does not orgasm it really F%^$k's up the relationship.

like other have answered, i was just born this way. i didn't choose to be submissive...it doesn't turn me on...it's not a fun roleplay...it's just me. and i'm grateful that i discovered a lifestyle which allows me to just be me, without the persecution and senseless pain that accompanies being submissive in the vanilla world.

Submission means to me, is that i feel secure enough in my sense of self to give over control of that to another. I was also born that way. It make me feel happy content and very loved and gives me a chance to do what i crave. I would rather be alone then choose the wrong Master, i would not choose a Master just not to be alone. I just happen to have a wonderful Master. My life it totally on track i am going to college to get a degree having Master just makes life sweeter.
