Hi, I had been ignoring pain in right breast for about 6 months, started last June, as simple discomfort. I thought it was nothing, I'm an RN and I know breast pain is usully not cancer. In August I complained to my primary care who thought it was nothing...in november went to OB/GYN because the pain had gone from a dull ache to a burning/itching pain that had spread to the nipple area and still had really bad pain under my arm...he told me it was fibrocystic and was nothing..His exact words were "You don't have cancer"...I saw him again in January same problem..he said again "you don't have cancer"...I decided to ignore him and have a mammogam paid for by me...well what do you know..an area of density in the right breast and what look like lymph node involvment...I go see a cancer specialist March 5th...maybe it is nothing but I sure as hell wish I had paid out of pocket sooner and gone in..I'm afraid I wasted 6 months and how much worse this might be because of it. Moral of the story if you think something is wrong push and don't ignore discomfort or pain in the breast area or under your arms. I want to bitch slap my OB/GYN for ignoring my complaints.
