It's the most poisonous thing ever written in the scene to make people not only believe that there are easy labeled boxes for such things, but that they can be comparable to eachother and superior to one another.

I definitely agree on that LA. Everyone is unique and expresses their submission differently. It's wrong to class someone as more or less submissive because of how they express it.

I also do not like this concept.  One person's submission (or slavery) is no better than another's (although they may think so, as we have witnessed many times in the forums).  Different, not better or worse.  It depends on the relationship dynamic.  Your level of submission is meaningless to me.  The only person/people it matters to are those to whom you submit.

I don't think it applies to reality any more than applying such a list (levels of strength, levels of humorousness, etc.) to someone in the "vanilla" world.  People are far more complex, and have more dimensions and layers than that.

Labels are ok for me; I'm a scientist afterall. But, I agree about the superiority issue, even as I realize I stuggle with it. One side of me knows that bottoms are no better or worse than slaves and that sex slaves have equal value to non-sex slaves. But, the other side STILL rolls her eyes at people who don't take this as "seriously" as she does. I'm workin' on it and one of the ways I do this is to be sure to tell people (and thus myself) that one is not better or less than the other. If I say it enough, eventually I will come to instinctively and wholeheartedly believe it to be true, right? Right? *chuckle* I can also laugh at myself about it...superiority of any kind is a stupid view to have. I've come to realize that the reason I hate Fem or Male Supremacists so much is because I hate the supremacist in me. It's a step.

Oh i completely agree. An individual can't be boxed into one thing. one has to much into play that makes each of us individual be it past experiences, characters we were born with, or the culture we grew up in. i am just one of those who like to learn all aspects of a life i am going to embrace. To study all philosophies and have an understanding of what it is. Thanks for the link. :)

Who cares what level of submission people claim that you are. All that matters is that your Master is pleased with you.

I think the idea of levels of submission is all crap. Everyone is different and has different needs and desires.

I look at my own submission and the levels of it.  Not at someone elses submission since that is not my business.  My submission is in a constant state of change.  The change has been positive and my submission has deepened.  Hopefully it continues.

MasterFireMaam displays the keenest level of submission..  to Herself.  As a Dominant, She seems to be constantly submitting to Her own inner teacher, and that is the most charming of skills the big Ds possess.

i really appreciate reading Your posts Maam, and thank You for being above the radar on Your personal growth processes.

To answer the Op question, by all means read the levels list. then laugh, and know you shared the peace pipe.  Even bum info helps you to learn where some people are coming from.

The thing is one is better for you as a dominant. What one dominant prizes another will not. One dominant type person may want a TPE slave and to micromanage them, if it suits them it will be better for them than a smart assed masochist or a bottom. A dominant type person that does not desire this would be squicked by aTPE slave that wanted to be micromanaged... a bottom might serve their needs. It is all what a dominant wants that creates a value on the submissive/slave/bottom type person. There is nothing wrong with that as long as people do not do this mental "your needs  are not my needs and what fills my needs is better"

I like bananas better than apples, but that doesn't mean apples have less value than bananas intrinsically.

It is often a game of "first liar doesn't stand a chance"

To this day, the most glorious bit of submission I have ever witnessed was a gay male BOTTOM, not a submissive, not a slave but "just" a bottom.

Its all labels till someone's ego gets broken.
