Ditto what owned said. The main site is blocked but i can get on the discussion board. I do my work so Im left alone. If I wanted to I could get into the main site but as long as IT leaves me alone I wont bother them. I like it in here because there is a lot of discusion going on and I learn a lot.

All we ask is that they respect that we have a job to do and this is to keep the network running at peak performance. i did have to block music sites, like lime wire, etc. Because too many folks were on those sites at the same time and it hogged bandwidth. Hec some of the engineers frequent porn sites, others are online gamers, etc. As long as this doesn't interfear with my job, i could care less what they do. It is not in my job description to go around reporting activities to big brother. There are already several self appointed informers around here who don't need any more help in that area. Ugh...lol

I read and post on here from work alot. Actually, I'm at work now. The IT department knows and seem to have no problem with it. I get a little bit of teasing once in a while but that's about it.

You might be able to use this depending on your workplace. There are other things you can do as well.

i can actually get on the main site at work... (popping in to see a message that was sent not browsing) but when i was looking for shoes online i could not go to a shopping site called http://www.sexyshoes.com/ go fig... lol

I have a job where accessing computers when I'm working would be not only impossible, but rediculous. So, that takes care of that issue. behindmirrors.

I'm not only the IT person, I am a security IT person. Yeah, we see where you go, how long you're on, even what you've downloaded. We see how long you've been on web based mail and chat. We report the top 10 to the managers and it's up to the individual manager to do something (or not). And PLEASE don't think that just because you delete something, it's gone. We get that back too. Easy peasy.

i knew someone who was temping at a Children's hospital and went on one of the other well known bondage sites and while checking her email, someone had sent her a pic of a piece of artwork.. a naked woman gently tied to a cross. Well, unfortunately, one of the doctors happened to spy this pic on her screen (during the 3 seconds it was up) and later that day she was released.

Actually, depending upon your workplace, this could be considered sexual harassment...having the pix up on the PC, not the "letting go". It's happened more than once where I work.

My company has shared computers.....they are in the staff area, there are several hundered employees and the pc's are general use.

Yeah, to all that about all websites and email being monitored where I work. It is also the case where CE works. This leads to pretty inventive emails where we use codes for everything. Our cover is that we are enrolled in a fictitious graduate education program and she is in my study group. I grade her and discuss upcoming classes. She says I make her laugh when she reads some of the disguised things I come up with.

Our system used to be pretty open at the office until IT started doing inventory on why our memory was so large. They found over 15,000 songs, 3,000 movies and more being stored on the company mainframe. They immediately shut off anything from outside...hotmail, yahoo any streaming media. quote: There was a VP who attempted to access such a site. The first time, he was verbally reprimanded. The second time, he was written up. The third time, he was terminated. Why he was dumb enough to keep doing this after being reprimanded is beyond Me. You're lucky we had one taken out in cuffs from the office. Apparently he was involved in child porn and had been talking to an undercover cop on the net thinking he was setting up a meeting with a 10 year old. Needless to say he lost his job but not before the media got hold of the story and embarassed his wife too. Amazed me how quickly she was able to get a divorce and full custody.

yeah, well, since that's a criminal act, anyone finding child porn on someone's PC is legally obligated to report it. Makes things somewhat dicey at times. Remember when R, Kelly was supposedly in the video with an underage girl (it was all over the net). Whole bunches of people were let go at my office when we found it on their PCs. In this day and age, you'd think people would have a bit more sense. Apparently not.

although I can only speak for my little corner of the security world, we're honestly too busy to even care much where you've been. We're too busy protecting the network against hackers...seriously. Sure, we CAN see what you're doing, we just don't particularly care. My users are totally paranoid about it. They keep asking if I can read their emails and see what websites they go to. I always say yeah, I can...mostly I just don't. As long as you don't bring in a virus, don't download streaming media, stay pretty much away from porn...I really don't care what you do. That's why we have web filtering programs in place...so we don't have to monitor.

BBBTBW, I think that's just too funny. If I was ever out somewhere and saw someone on collarme, I think I'd have to approach them about it in a friendly way. Maybe extend my hand and say, "sweetescravo, and you?" Or some equally witty comment. haha Now personally, I am as discreet as possible about my collarme and other kinky website viewing if there is the chance of vanilla people being around, but I have to admire this person's ability to be so open about it.

Since we have no net access at work, I am fairly safe on this point. Whether I am out or not, (Some know, some dont) I dont think Id ever be brave enough to access this sort of site from work. Back in NY when I was teaching, I had more than enough access, but I also ran a computer lab where children were in and out constantly. It never would have crossed my mind. DV

I couldn't keep my eyes off of him and his computer screen and the shit faced grin I had would have told the world everything if they had bothered to watch my body language. This guy was oblivious to the fact that I was observing him. The pages that he was reading were the message boards. I am not sure if his co-workers were privvy to what he was viewing but I think he should have been more careful in that I as a customer was able to see his computer screen clearly. Not to mention the possibility of all the spying that could have been done from the higher ups in his company. If the person in question reads this thread, I hope he at least looks at my profile and sees if he could be who I am talking about and be more careful in the future.
