When you are ashamed of something you posted do you:

Daddysredhead -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 1:20:19 PM)

I try to avoid this by not posting something that I think may come back and bite me in the ass later, or will make me sorry that I ever wrote it.

If something strikes me in a particularly strong way and makes me angry, I go to another thread (usually polls and random stupidity section) and try to simmer before I go back later and think about whether I want to contribute something to the thread that irked me in the first place.  Sometimes I do, and make sure that I don't come across like a total jerk when I do it, or I just avoid the thread altogether and move on to something else.  Usually if someone has written something that has set me off that badly, my reply isn't going to change how they feel one way or the other, so moving along just solves it for me.  Why bother getting in a cyber battle with someone who doesn't mean anything to me anyway?

I edit it if I have a chance; otherwise I explain why I've changed my mind.

missturbation -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 1:59:44 PM)

None of the above. I've never been ashamed of a post i've made. I say what i mean and stand by it.

Lordandmaster -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:04:17 PM)

You NEVER think better of something you've said?

cuddleheart50 -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:14:03 PM)

I edit it and hope no one reads it.

missturbation -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:14:40 PM)

Think better - no.
Admit my mistakes yes.
I wont apologise for my opinions but i will apologise if i get something factually wrong.
However i am not ashamed of maybe occasionally posting incorrect fact.

Lordandmaster -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:16:16 PM)

Well, sometimes my opinion changes.  Most people change their minds now and then.

missturbation -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:18:30 PM)

But again why be ashamed of a change of opinion?

subjected2006 -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:24:13 PM)

say sorry?
I haven't yet,but probably would.

edit?
only for spelling ,or if  I have ommitted  a conjunction

bring back or make new posts to cover it up?
who the heck would do that? this is a forum to express ideas,,not a pissing contest

no..right or wrong..I stand by what I  said because being the honest sort, what ever
I  post is genuine, even if it was the wrong thing to say.

JerseyKrissi72 -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:25:06 PM)

I always stand by my words.

Lordandmaster -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:31:10 PM)

Well, I've been ashamed of opinions I used to hold, and I'm sure I'll be ashamed in the future of some opinions I currently hold, but there's nothing shameful about changing your mind.

the only time i would be ashamed of a post id made is if i had judged someone wrongly or attacked them with no reason and so far i havent. I stand by anything i have said to anyone - so far.

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 2:41:42 PM)

Well, I try to do My posting when I am in a calm frame of Mind so I don't post something in the heat of anger or when I am feeling pessimistic that I will regret later.  Sometimes I have posted something and felt it could have been worded better, though I wouldn't say I was ashamed of it.  When that happens, I will edit the post if I still can.  If not, I'll just let it ride.

I think that sometimes things get out of hand, and things get said.  I do stand behind what I say, as how I felt at the time.  There are certain topics that mean a lot to me, so when something I believe in gets into the mix, I will always step in and say what I think.

I know that opinions change, so I won't say that everything I have said, is still how I feel now.  We grow, we learn, and with that things change about how we think.

Once you put those words out there, they are there.. being ashamed won't help anything, it was a part of you, and what you thought at the time or you wouldn't have written it.  I won't be ashamed of anything, I have just learned that if you don't mean it, and aren't prepared to defend your opinion, you best keep your fingers quiet. I think the only time I'd ever be ashamed of something I ever wrote is if I were acting like a child in whatever it was I said.
I've been an adult for well over 20 years now.  I've never said something I was ashamed of.
As I stated I am not a child so why would I say I was sorry for attacking someone for no reason?
Stand by what I said, I do that now.
Never edit, that appears as though one is covering up something...I'm not into that.  If  I make a mistake it stays here..it is the only honest way to be.
Bring back old posts?  Well, I have a photographic memory so I can bring back peoples lies when they least expect it...annoys them..doesn't annoy me.

Mikal -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 7:11:45 PM)

Neah. Hasn't happened yet, but my opinions are pretty solid... I might edit if I wasn't clear enough... but I'd likely post again... or message the person directly who was having a hissy-fit... I'll let you know when it happens! lol

darksdesire -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 7:30:13 PM)

i think the only thing that i would be ashamed of is if i were to be harsh, rude or judgemental toward another.  in that case, i would apologize.  The only time i seem to ever run the risk of this however, is in response to another's harshness or rudeness toward others.  In those circumstances, i  move on to other forums so i don't say something i regret - after all, i don't want to stoop to the same level.

Arpig -> RE: When you are ashamed of something you posted do you: (10/29/2006 11:39:40 PM)

It depends on what it is. If it is an undeserved flame of some sort, I'd appologise. If it was an idiotic opinion, then I would make a reply and explain that I no longer held that idiotic opinion, and I would explain why, and what my new idiotic opinion was.

I could choose any of the above 3...  Usually I edit if I can, but since that time is now shortened to minutes, I will usually explain why I've changed my mind or appologise.
Than there are plenty of times I stand by what I said, because on some things I am absolutely black/white (no pun intended, lol).    M
